The Call Of The Wild and Brahms The Boy II (2020)

A sled dog struggles for survival in the wilds of the Yukon. Chris Sanders is a director I have always liked, I loved Lilo and Stitch and I really like How to Train Your Dragon. The Call Of The Wild is his first live action movie and it’s pretty decent, what really helps this movie is two major things…the acting and cinematography combined with the setting. Harrison Ford does a fantastic job in his role as well as everyone else. Plus the costume design really makes you feel you are in that time period which is very nice. The cinematography is absolutely beautiful especially when combined with the setting, there’s a lot of breathtaking moments that really capture this whimsical feel to it. With that said the movie does run into some problems such as the CGI which is quite bad, the script could have been a lot stronger than it was. Granted the writing wasn’t necessarily bad as it was just very very okay. I think the major problem this movie is going to run into is we just had a movie just like this released 2 months ago which was Togo which I found to be the better of the two. But this movie still does a lot really well, it has it’s heartwarming moments and it’s a nice movie to watch to kill some time. If your liked Togo you will absolutely love this movie!

After a family moves into the Heelshire Mansion, their young son soon makes friends with a life-like doll called Brahms. William Brent Bell is still getting work after crap after crap movie…I also find it truly hilarious that he would come back from the first movie and completely contradict it with a and I use this term VERY loosely “sequel” at least the first movie had it’s moments and wasn’t THIS…first off this movie is a cliche gauntlet. Lazy jumpscares, a terribly built atmosphere and having the doll as paranormal…ugh, acting and writing wise it’s terrible there really isn’t much to say when it comes to that. It feels like nobody gave a crap and the writing was just uninspired as all hell. The only thing I can give this movie is having maybe one or two moments that were actually passable and the filming is fine enough, otherwise this is a huge trainwreck that was waiting to happen. How anyone thought having a sequel was a good idea is just mind boggling. If you have seen any terrible horror movie in your life congratulations you have already seen Brahms The Boy II. Give this a skip..

The Last Thing He Wanted (2020)

A veteran D.C. journalist loses the thread of her own narrative when a guilt-propelled errand for her father thrusts her from byline to unwitting subject in the very story she’s trying to break. Adapted from Joan Didion’s namesake novel. Some people might be under the impression that I’m being way too harsh with a lot of movies so far this year, it’s only almost the end of February (at the time this was written) and I’ve given five movies my lowest rating so far….well make that six! Trust me when I say this movie is complete nonsensical garbage, it’s almost baffling on how bad this movie really is, first off Anne Hathaway, Ben Affleck and Willem Dafoe can’t save this movie from being complete failure, the acting is so piss poor and the movie itself is so poorly put together as well. There is so many tonal issues, this movie tries to be so many things at once. One moment it’s trying to be a thriller and at another it’s trying to be this drama that has nothing going on at all. That’s another thing this is one of those movies where it’s just so hard to describe what actually happened, this movie didn’t make any coherent sense and the characters make really stupid decisions for no reason. What’s baffling about all of this is it’s directed by Dee Rees who previously directed Mudbound which was really great, so it’s really surprising to see something this bad from her, the writing is complete garbage like a lot of the other choices with this movie I genuinely don’t know what they were trying to do with is movie. Plus like a lot of bad movies this one feels like a chore to sit through, which is never a good sign when the viewer starts to feel like watching the movie feels like some sort of chore you failed to connect with your audience. The movie also feels way too made for TV not Netflix, overall this is so far the biggest embarrassment of 2020. I will say the good thing about this is this movie will most likely be forgotten about by next month so that’s a plus, but that still doesn’t change that this movie is complete and total garbage and should be avoided.

Top 60 Best Movies Of 2019 (29-21)

We are about to enter the top 20, so this list just got a lot harder. Trust me when I say making some decisions with this list was not easy at all!

29.

Toy Story 4 was a movie I was very skeptical about, mostly because just how incredible the 3rd movie was and how much of a good job it did wrapping up the story. But this movie really did impress me quite a lot, Josh Cooley did a fantastic job with this film, but what really makes this film great is Woody. I said this in my review and I’ll say it again here Woody is one of the best characters who had some of the best character development throughout a franchise in film history. This movie only proves that statement because of how well he’s done in this one, some of the new characters like Forky are very cleverly written. Of course the movie has it’s emotional moments, lastly throughout this franchise this series has made you want to connect with the toys and have the toys be relatable. Sure there toys but they have a lot of human aspects to them, the movie explores several different themes as well. Toy Story 4 was a fantastic conclusion and certainly one of my favorite animated movies of the 2010s.

28.

Sebastian James and Ramez Silyan’s documentary Everybody’s Everything is one I wish got a lot more spotlight. This movie has a lot of heart honoring Lil Peep who sadly died in 2017, what makes this documentary so powerful is you see all these people in the documentary talking about how much of an amazing person he was and when the film does talk about his death you see the shock and pain from everyone involved, the movie does a fantastic job of showing how Lil Peep got his career stared as an artist. The film is also very well made, Terrance Malik was involved with this movie and you can definitely tell. Everybody’s Everything is a tribute to Lil Peep it told his story in such a beautiful way.

27.

Melina Matsoukas is going to have one strong career going forward, because Queen & Slim was really something special. The acting from Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith was powerful they gave such raw performances that were some standouts in 2019. I said in my review that this movie had tons of disturbing moments which it most definitely does, it’s not afraid to show how disturbing and graphic police brutality is. The writing feels Incredibly raw to the point where the characters in the film could be actual people you may know or meet. The cinematography, camera angles combined with the settings are masterful, it’s no surprise due to Melina Matsoukas mainly working on a ton of music videos before this film. This is one incredible film to start with as your directional debut (for movies) I’m excited to see what she does next!

26.

In 2018 we had Won’t You Be My Neighbor which was one of my favorites of that year, now in 2019 we have A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood directed by Marielle Heller. Tom Hanks knocks it out of the park has Fred Rogers not only does he look exactly like him but he captures what made Rogers so likable and how he was as a person, always wanting to help others, talk to others, discuss heavy issues and much more. Marielle Heller seriously did a fantastic job with this film she really shows how much care she put into this film and was knowledgeable as possible about Fred Rogers. There’s the emotional moments, the heartwarming moments and the powerful moments. This movie really shows how much Fred Rogers impacted a ton of people!

25.

Jon Watts (Clown, Cop Car, Spider-Man Homecoming) returns to the director’s chair for Spider-Man Far From Hone, something I was a bit worried about with this movie was Endgame a few months earlier and I was afraid this movie would be overshadowed by it or people’s expectations would incredibly high to the point where it would disappoint even if it was still very good. Luckily they did not happen, I won’t say too much because this one really speaks for itself, Tom Holland does a really great job as Spider-Man, Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio was a brilliant choice he brought everything he had to the character plus unlike a lot of MCU villains he got some really strong character development and had a motivation. The writing was some of the best of the MCU so far, it had a balance of jokes and serious moments which is something some MCU films have failed to do. This movie is everything a sequel should do, improve some stuff from the previous film in this case Homecoming.

24.

Julius Onah had one of the biggest comebacks in 2019, he went from directing as something as disappointing and terrible as Cloverfield Paradox to a really strong film like Luce. The movie has this “We Need To Talk About Kevin” Vibe and it really works, Kelvin Harrison Jr’s performance is fantastic. As well as Octavia Spencer, Naomi Watts and Tim Roth, what really blows my mind is how well written this film was. It goes for a realistic tone and gives off this thrilling tone as well which it works extremely well. Onah really does a fantastic job directing, creating an atmosphere, and very powerful realistic scenes that will leave you surprised. If you haven’t checked it out yet go into the movie knowing as little as possible like I did, you won’t regret it!

23.

I really don’t think I need to comment much on Joker, Joaquin Phoenix kills it as Joker, he brings his own unique style to the character as well as the dread, and insanity he even expands on the character as well. The movie has this raw feeling with some very disturbing scenes, the film shows the darkest sides to Gotham city, it’s ugly (and I don’t mean in a bad way!) but at the same time it’s mesmerizing, the last 15-20 minutes are completely insanity, the movie is a ticking time bomb anything can happen. It shows just how demented and psychotic Arthur/Joker really is!

22.

I’ll keep this rather short, Avengers Endgame is a film that’s had been building up for many years and the result is just incredible, from the strong acting from everybody to the writing that is some of the best of the MCU. To having Thanos one of the best villains of the MCU if not THE best so far. The film just has so much that’s really strong, the film makes you care about the characters and really shows how far this franchise has come and will continue to do so!

21.

This movie narrowly misses the top 20 it was a very hard decision…however this movie is still one hell of a fantastic film! Harmony Korine has always been one of my favorite directors (Gummo, Spring Breakers and a few others) and he really does a fantastic job here! Matthew McConaughey gives easily one of his best performances, everyone in this movie is great heck even Snoop Dogg, the jokes work really well for the film. The cinematography is beautiful, the movie itself makes you care for the characters and it’s just a one of a kind experience! Absolutely well done go into this movie knowing as little as possible!

That will wrap up part four! Stay tuned for part 5 where we look at 20-11!

Sonic The Hedgehog (2020)

After discovering a small, blue, fast hedgehog, a small-town police officer must help it defeat
an evil genius who wants to do experiments on it. Before I begin let me make it clear that I’m not a fan of the Sonic franchise, I’ve only played like two of the games and I really only know some of the characters and that’s it. The Sonic The Hedgehog video game franchise has been struggling for quite a long time now, so when a movie was announced many people were very skeptical, of course there was the whole thing with the hideous design they tried to get away with. But at this point that’s common knowledge long story short it got backlash (rightfully so) and the studio said they will do a redesign. So with that out of the way let’s talk about the movie itself, first off Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik/Dr. Eggman was a very smart choice, he captures the character pretty well and does a lot with his role as well. Jim Carrey has been a hit or miss the last few years so it’s good to see him he doing something that actually suits him really well. Ben Schwartz as Sonic was fantastic, he captures the character pretty well (outside of a few moments) also this goes without saying but the redesign is really great, it looks very identical to the video game and shows that there was passion put into it. The writing had it’s really great moments….and then it had it’s not so good ones. There were some jokes that were just not funny at all (seriously a Olive Garden product placement?) on the plus side there were jokes that did hit, they weren’t something I’m going to be quoting in the next year but they were still strong. The action scenes were surprisingly well done, I was very impressed how well crafted and filmed they were. Sorry if this review is a mess, as I said before I’m not familiar very well with the franchise. But what I do know is overall Sonic The Hedgehog is another video game adaption movie that is quite great, it’s a whole lot of fun and is a really solid film that I recommend checking out!!

7/10 B

Fantasy Island (2020)

The enigmatic Mr Roarke makes the secret dreams of his lucky guests come true at a luxurious but remote tropical resort, but when the fantasies turn into nightmares, the guests have to solve the island’s mystery in order to escape with their lives. Who the hell at Blumhouse thought having Jeff Wadlow back to direct another movie was a good idea? This is the same guy who did Truth Or Dare…that in itself should tell you how bad this is gonna be. So Fantasy Island is basically a horror adaptation based on the original TV show, only that this movie makes absolutely no sense at all. There are so many problems with this movie so let’s just get down to it, first off the acting is so wooden it makes the a tree in the background of the movie look more interesting, Luce Hale is horrendous, not even Michael Pena can save this garbage, Jimmy O. Young and Ryan Hansen’s characters are stereotypes that are so painful to listen to. Maggie Q’s character is just uninteresting and in fact her acting is among one of the worst and then you have Charlotte McKinney who is just kind of there. The characters are unlikable, horribly written and cliched characters you have seen in any other horror movie, don’t even get me started on the writing…not once during this almost 2 hour movie (oh yeah that’s another thing why in the name of hell was it close to 2 hours) did I feel there was a moment where I said “this seems interesting” or “I’m really invested in this” it’s so horribly written to the point where you have to wonder if this was written by a human. Because it doesn’t feel like it, the story starts out straightforward enough but as the movie goes on and on it makes less and less sense. Which reminds me the nonsensical twists….oh god where do I begin. First off they make no sense (like this movie) the build up to the twists is non existent and it feels like Wadlow just made crap up as it went on. Thinking about the twists for even a second and you realize how little sense they make. Overall what else can I really say? Fantasy Island sunk to a new low, the worst part about this is I genuinely wanted this to be fun…but it’s not that at all, it’s a painful experience that should be avoided….worst film of 2020 so far (at the time this was written)

Shaun The Sheep Farmageddon and Olympic Dreams (2020)

When an alien with amazing powers crash-lands near Mossy Bottom Farm, Shaun the Sheep goes on a mission to shepherd the intergalactic visitor home before a sinister organization can capture her. It’s very unfortunate this movie never got released into theaters here in the United States, it did get a Netflix release that I just found out about a few days ago! I’m a huge fan of the first movie and was really excited for this one for awhile. Shaun The Sheep Farmageddon is a worthy sequel and is far better than Aardman previous work which was Early Man. This is more on the level of what makes Aardman so great. Farmageddon takes what was incredible about the first movie and does more with it, the plot is truly entertaining! The jokes are genuinely hilarious, there are tons of really cute and heartwarming moments, the characters are lovable and a lot of fun! The animation is stunning some of the design choices they went with are absolutely gorgeous it’s truly a beautiful film, there’s also tons of Sci-Fi film references that are written cleverly into the story. Overall Shaun The Sheep Farmageddon is a very clever movie and is hands down of the best films so far this year, if you are a fan of the first movie you will LOVE this one!!!

9/10 A

In the Olympic Athlete Village, a young cross-country skier bonds with a volunteer doctor after her competition ends. You know what this was really cute! It’s a very straightforward story but very charming. Alexi Pappas and Nick Kroll are both fantastic in their roles and really do have a great chemistry, the writing is simple yet effective it does a good job of being this awkward little love story, the camerawork is also great and really compliments the movie in several scenes as well. We don’t get to see Alexi Pappas do any sports but for what the movie was going for I really don’t mind that, not much else to say Olympic Dreams is a very charming film that is genuinely really solid as well..seek this one out!

2020 Movies review lighting round

Eat, Brains, Love is a laugh-out-loud funny, surprisingly romantic, zombie road trip movie filled with heart – and brains. It’s worth noting that this is directed by the same guy who did Leprechaun 2….I’m just as shocked as you are. Anyway this movie was honestly not too bad, it’s a low budget zombie movie that feels like a lot like Warm Bodies which isn’t a bad thing at all. The gore is actually pretty okay for a low budget movie, the movie is also overall a pretty fun movie! The acting and writing could have been better but you get what you can take with these types of movies so it honestly wasn’t bad. There’s some pretty funny bits here and there as well, really don’t have much else to say!

6/10 C+

On the surface VFW sounds like a generic action thriller movie, which it is for the most part. But it’s one of those rare VOD action thrillers that are actually…well you know fun and entertaining! A lot of it is due to the visuals and the cast, especially Stephen Lang! Seeing this guy still doing a fantastic job is always great to see. The visuals are quite beautiful and do separate it from other similar movies, as I said before it is very familiar in a lot of areas. But if you can passed that then you will probably have a good time with this movie. Acting wise it’s great, writing wise it’s decent give it a watch.
A group of war veterans must defend their local VFW post and an innocent teen against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants.

6/10 C+

A paranormal team sets to check out an abandoned summer camp where a mass murder had taken place decades previous. If you have seen any Paranormal Investigator visits haunted house, camp, cabin and so on you have already seen this movie. The funny thing about this movie is that I could almost swear that this was originally supposed to be connected to the Sleep Away Camp movies, maybe I didn’t remember correctly because I tried looking that up and found nothing so who knows. Anyway few things about the movie itself…..what can I really say? The movie is every cliche in the book, one of the few positives I will say is Chad Michael Murray tried his best with such a weak script. I feel like what pretty much killed this movie was that it took way too long for something interesting to happen, it’s a very common thing to happen with these types of movies and this movie falls in the same trap. The writing is really weak, it feels like something you would write up if you were straight out of ideas, Overall like I said there is not much to be said it’s the same thing as many other movies but done worse.

Top 60 Best Movies Of 2019 (39-30)

Welcome back here is part three of my best list! Hope you enjoy!

39.

Max Minghella truly created something special with this movie, Teen Spirit is a beautiful film that has a lot of color and energy to it. Elle Fanning has always been one of my favorite actresses and she does a fantastic job here, between her version of “Dancing On My Own” to her acting it really gives the movie a lot of life. What this movie does a fantastic job with is two things direction and character development, Minghella really did his homework when it comes to both these things, they both feel very raw and quite powerful with some emotional moments. This is definitely what I call a hidden gem of 2019.

38.

Chad Stahelski’s John Wick Trilogy has been one of the best trilogies to come out in awhile (we are even getting a forth movie!) there really is not a whole for me to say here, just think of the other two movies and you got this one. Like the other two movies the action in this one is incredible, Keanu Reeves is fantastic in his role, the cinematography is beautifully done and it’s just an overall fun film but also a fantastic one!!

37.

The fact a movie by Rob Letterman the director of Shark Tale, Monsters vs Aliens and Goosebumps (okay Goosebumps is actually a fun movie) made it this high up on my best list let alone made the best list truly shows life is full of surprises. Anyway I have always been a huge fan of Pokemon and still am to this day, so when a movie was announced part of me was excited but the other part remained skeptical. Video game adaption movies have this horrible reputation….but this one did a fantastic job! The special effects for the Pokemon were freaky but also incredible it really shows how far special effects have come, the story is simple yet engaging. You can tell how much passion was put into this like they genuinely wanted this to be great plus they follow the source material extremely well! Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu was a genius movie he really steals the show, this is the movie Pokemon fans have been really waiting for! There’s a sequel in the works and there is a rumor of a Pokemon Red movie in the works as well!!

36.

Quentin Tarantino does not need an introduction, this guy has time and time again proved himself as a fantastic director. What can be said about this movie that hasn’t already been said, the movie is a love letter to the golden age of Hollywood. Brad Pitt is incredible in his role, the same can be said for Leonardo DiCaprio both of them really brought a lot of strength to their roles. The movie has a lot of comedic moments, there’s tons of references that engages the audience to point out and this feels like something Tarantino wants people to remember in the next 10 years. It’s fantastically well done movie that is really worth it!

35.

Sam Mendes is also a director who really doesn’t need an introduction between American Beauty, Skyfall, Revolutionary Road. Road to Perdition, Spectre and so on. The guy is really talented, anyway few things about 1917! The movie shows the horrors of what war is like and it does a really great job at it, both Dean-Charles Chapman and George MacKay give powerful performances. The fact this movie was done in one take is quite impressive what’s even more impressive is when you actually watch the movie and see how hard that is, but my absolute favorite thing about this film is Roger Deakins this guy is absolutely fantastic and he always will be. The cinematography is stunning and quite honestly some of the best of 2019.

34.

Here is the other movie Nickelodeon and Netflix teamed up and released, Joe Murray returns to the director’s chair those of you who don’t know he was the original director of the series Rocko’s Modern Life plus there’s another director Cosmo Segurson. For a 45 minute movie it had a lot to say and is just fantastic all the way through, I grew up with Rocko’s Modern Life but to see it being taken into a different direction is quite amazing. The movie talks about more modern topics such as LGBT which the way they do this is really brilliant and in a beautiful way as well. The theme in this movie is change and how we must come to face it at some point of our lives. This movie made me shed a tear or two, the writing is brilliant, the writing is beautiful and the movie itself is just amazing.

33.

How this movie remained underrated throughout 2019 I will never understand, this is a movie about the horrifying 2008 Mumbai attacks when a Islamic terrorist organization (10 people involved) carried out 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks that lasted for FOUR DAYS across Mumbai. At least 174 people died, including the 9 attackers and more than 300 were wounded, the attack is one of the most horrifying moments of the 21st century. So making a movie about this horrifying moment would not be easy because this is a very serious topic but luckily Director Anthony Maras showed he can do it, what really gives this movie strength is how raw it really feels it shows the terror and pain the victims were going through. The acting and writing were top notch and the film itself is quite disturbing, mostly due to as I said before how raw it feels, it’s seriously hard to watch but a really important watch. The movie itself does a fantastic job of showing how horrifying this attack was. Please watch this movie if you haven’t I highly recommend it.

32.

Tatsuya Nagamine gave the best Dragon Ball movie to date! Dragon Ball was my childhood, I was obsessed with it as a kid and I still adore the franchise to this day, looking back a lot of the movies are very heavily flawed, but the ones of recently have been pretty good…but my god I was not ready for this! Broly’s character in the non canon movies had no personality, his reason of causing destruction was very idiotic and wasn’t written very well…that all changes with this movie because this Broly who is officially canon is the direct opposite. He’s given a huge backstory and some important character development that turns him into a very interesting character. The movie also gives development for other things such as King Vegeta and Paragus, the movie is beautifully animated and just well done film. I’m seriously excited to see what they do next!

31.

There really isn’t much for me to say about Todd Douglas Miller’s Apollo 11! It really speaks for itself it pretty much shows the Apollo 11 mission to land on the moon led by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. The best thing about all this? There’s some never before seen footage and audio recordings, it’s such a beautiful moment in history and this movie really shows that. Which is what I truly think is what makes this film fantastic, it feels like a celebration of one of NASA’s most celebrated missions. It captures everyone’s determination, seeing the footage is quite powerful and it inspires you just by seeing how inspired everyone is!!

30.

Jordan Peele is quickly showing how incredible he is as a director, he started out with Get Out which is an incredible film and fast forward to 2019 and now there’s Us! What really makes me respect this film is Peele made sure to do his homework and had his cast watch certain movies before working on this film some include Martyrs (2008), Funny Games, The Birds, It Follows, The Shining and a few others! The acting is incredible but the standout is Lupita Nyong’o she gives one of the best performances of 2019, this movie captures the atmosphere, the suspense, and the audiences attention. The movie is creepy as hell and leaves you with a lot of questions on what the hell you just watched, Jordan Peele does a fantastic job of taking the horror genre to a new direction and I’m excited to see what he does next!

And that will conclude part three! Stay tuned for part four where we will dive into 29-21!

Birds Of Prey (2020)

After splitting with the Joker, Harley Quinn joins superheroes Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from an evil crime lord.

Let’s just jump right to it, Birds Of Prey is seriously what Suicide Squad should have been. First off the casting was perfect Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn once again was brilliant, Rose Perez, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (she was adorable) and Jurnee Smollett-Bell were all really great! Ewan McGregor heavily reminded me of Norman Osborne from the Sam Rami movies and trust me that’s a good thing! The action scenes were seriously well done, they felt a lot like John Wick which is great. The action was fast paced and filmed wonderfully, the direction from Cathy Yan was done really well. The jokes were a lot of fun, they were genuinely funny and it got a handful of laughs out of me. Black Mask as a villain was pretty interesting, he was absolutely bonkers which actually worked for what this movie was trying to go for, the only thing I would say I wish they could have done was give Huntress and Black Canary a bit more screentime, especially Huntress. I really enjoyed her backstory and would love to see these characters evolve more. I think what Cathy Yan succeeded most with this movie is the world building, she does a good job of establishing where it’s taking place and what’s going on. Harley Quinn’s character is also done very well and actually a really fun character! I don’t want to say too much more because I don’t want to spoil it, but overall this movie is a lot of fun and a genuinely strong movie. It’s some of the most fun I’ve had in a theater in awhile, definitely recommend giving this one a go!!

9/10 A

Gretel & Hansel and To All The Boys I Loved Before PS I Still Love You (2020)

A long time ago in a distant fairy tale countryside, a young girl leads her little brother into a dark wood in desperate search of food and work, only to stumble upon a nexus of terrifying evil.

This was such an odd one, from the surface it may seem like a regular nothing special about it horror movie. However that’s not the case at all, I will say I respect Orion Pictures to have the balls to release a more artsy horror movie that not everyone is going to like (which is up my alley) let alone them deciding to release it in January of all months. Oz Perkins is a director I really like, The Blackcoat’s Daughter is a fantastic movie, I Am A Pretty Thing That Lives In The House I almost forgot existed. As for Gretel And Hansel it has some really great stuff going for it, let’s get the obvious out of the way…visually this movie is incredible. Oz Perkins does what he does best with his films make sure the cinematography is incredible as well as the visuals. They are stunning and just so captivating, as for the acting and writing both are quite solid however I do feel like this movie kind of held back. Some of the ideas were interesting enough I just thought the execution was sort of lacking, I also felt the writing could have had a lot more depth to it especially with what they were trying to go for. However that doesn’t mean to say the movie completely missed the mark, there was some genuinely strong scenes that were suspenseful and a bit eerie. Going in depth about this movie is sort of hard without spoiling it so I think I’ll end things here! Overall Gretel and Hansel was a very bold move on Orion Picture’s part I appreciate the movie for being different and actually quite solid as well. I recommend giving this a go, just keep in mind this is going to be more on the artsy side.

7/10 B

Lara Jean and Peter have just taken their relationship from pretend to officially official when another recipient of one of her old love letters enters the picture.

In 2018 To All The Boys I Loved Before was a pretty big surprise, it was one of those rare teen romantic comedies that was actually pretty good and one of the best of recent memory. While I don’t think it’s sequel is as good as the first movie it still manages to be quite enjoyable. What I liked about the first one a lot was that it was very grounded and was more believable, in this one there are a few moments that are kind of jumping the shark but it isn’t so bad that it damages the movie. The biggest problem this movie has is the pacing is messy at times, such as the third act mostly. But most of it can be forgiven due to how overall charming the movie is, it’s a very fun little movie that really does make you feel good at the end. I also do wish this movie had a few more differences from the first movie, but overall what they went with was decent. I recommend giving this one a look.
