Well folks this is the last part of my best list, I’m sorry some parts took longer to come out then others. But hey it’s finished now, anyway here are the movies that made the top 10!
10.
Noah Baumbach creates perhaps the best representation of two people going through a divorce. The movie is extremely raw and shows the divorce in a very realistic way. We all know the argument scene which is hands down one of the best scenes in a movie in 2019. Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson are absolutely incredible in their roles, both give very powerful performances and both show the emotions and issues of someone who is going through a divorce. The writing is brilliant, the filming is beautifully done and the movie is just incredible all around.
9.
The Farewell is one of the few movies where I cried my eyes out, the performances from everyone all around are fantastic especially Awkwafina and Zhao Shuzhen both incredibly talented. Lulu Wang masters the direction and creates several scenes that really hit me in the gut. The movie is very raw and the writing feels natural and well thought out, lastly the movie is not only sad but it’s funny with several clever jokes. Lastly the whole movie is very relatable it’s one of the most beautiful films to come out of 2019!
8.
Jennifer Kent’s The Nightingale is a movie that I’m shocked got away with so much, the movie is very disturbing but in the best ways. It’s one of those disturbing movies that isn’t for shock value instead it has a really strong plot and a very suspenseful atmosphere that keep you into the movie. The movie itself is very haunting and incredibly well done, from the cinematography to the acting and writing everything about this film is top notch. Lastly Aisling Franciosi’s performance is one of the best of 2019, it’s raw, powerful and really well acted. It’s a shame this movie didn’t get a huge theater release so if you haven’t seen it please do so!
7.
I said in my review Gasper Noe’s Climax might be one of the best horror movies of the 2010s and I still stand by what I said, Gasper Noe’s career has been fantastic so far Irreversible, Enter The Void, I Stand Alone and a few others! Climax is one of those movies where it starts off not very disturbing but then towards the end of the second act things start to escalate and become nightmarish. Which the build up is just magnificent, when people were saying “this movie is Suspiria from hell” they were not joking, from the characters being disturbed, to the cinematography and atmosphere this movie does everything right that a horror movie should do!
6.
Terrance Malick…What is there to say about him that hasn’t already been said? A Hidden Life is a movie that always seems to be missing when it comes to best films of 2019. Which I’m not understanding why, it’s a very deep film that may seem straightforward on the surface. But it is a lot more then that it starts asking a ton of questions that are quite honestly reasonable to ask, especially when you take into account what the movie is about. Acting, writing, cinematography and direction wise the movie is fantastic. August Diehl and Valerie Pachner are both incredible in their roles, one thing I almost forgot the movie is very depressing but rightfully so! Overall a masterpiece of a film!!!
5.
Note I’m going to take bits and pieces from my review simply because this movie is hard to talk about without spoiling and I don’t want to do that!! Ari Aster already made a name for himself in 2018 with Hereditary and now Midsommar. Which like Climax is what a true disturbing film is like. First off Ari Aster once again does a fantastic job, his direction really feels unique and captures this disturbing yet comedic atmosphere. The movie is cleverly written with lots of eerie scenes that really get under your skin, the performances are well done but the one who stands out is Florence Pugh. She shows every kind of emotional and we slowly see her go through all types of situations and events that effect her, part of that is the camerawork like Hereditary this film has incredible camerawork that really gives off this disturbing atmosphere and a sense of dread. It shows how the characters are reacting to certain events in great detail, the writing is a work of art it’s creative, smart and very unique. It also has this natural feel to it and really dives into certain scenes extremely well. It’s one of those disturbing movies that shows off it’s atmosphere right from the beginning and it stays that way for the entire film, even with the comedic moments I couldn’t help but feel like another certain situation was going to come out of nowhere. I can’t wait to see what Ari Aster does next!
4.
Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite (best picture winner!) is quite an incredible film with a very talented director who’s done several fantastic films over the years (Okja, Snowpiercer, The Host and several others) to keep this short, this movie is a masterpiece. From the acting that feels very realistic, the writing that’s just masterfully written, to the direction that is some of the best of the 2010s and really shows how amazing Bong Joon Ho is as a director. The movie combined with its setting and atmosphere offers a very suspenseful experience that can honestly not be copied, it’s unique in every sense of the word!
3.
Alma Har’el’s Honey Boy was the last 2019 release I watched and I definitely saved one of the best for last. As I said in my review this is one of the saddest and most depressing movies I’ve seen in a very long time, Shia LaBeouf is just incredible his performance is absolutely well done, also as I said In the review the movie is loosely based on LaBeouf’s childhood and his relationship with his father. With that added in it just makes this movie 10x more powerful in every single way possible, the way the movie tackles very heavy subjects such as mental health and abuse is breathtaking, there’s not many films out there that tackle those subjects anywhere near as well as this film does. The writing is beautiful written, the direction from Alma Har’el is truly beautiful and the movie as a whole is magnificent!
2.
I’m not going to lie here 3-1 I was having a very tough time deciding where to put each movie! But anyway The Safdie Brothers who previously did Good Time take what made Good Time so fantastic and kicked it up 20 more notches with Uncut Gems. What can be said that hasn’t already been said? Adam Sandler is fantastic, the movie is quite hilarious and has a ton of memorable moments that area already being quoted. The direction is some of the best of 2019, the build up to each scene and the pay off is spot on! The movie’s atmosphere has its own personality which is quite great, lastly the cinematography is incredible as well as the insane final act!
1.
Robert Eggers’s The Lighthouse is one of the first movies I think of when someone says the word “horror” it does everything right what a good horror movie should do. Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe are both fantastic they play very questionable individuals and we get to see all of that due to the very clever writing and we also get to see how bizarre this movie gets which trust me it gets insane. The movie brings back this 1920s and 1930s horror movie feel which is something I’ve wanted for a very long time now. The film is disturbing with tons of imagery and with a very haunting atmosphere combined with the cinematography and score it creates a unique experience to the viewer! Which is why The Lighthouse is my pick of the best film of 2019!
Well that’s it for my best list! I hope you guys enjoyed the list!
In 1800s England, a well meaning but selfish young woman meddles in the love lives of her friends. Emma has a lot of good things going for it, first off the acting is pretty solid all around especially Anya Taylor-Joy and Mia Goth both do a fantastic job. The writing is very solid that gives quite a few great scenes, the costume design is very well done it matches the time period it’s going for. Lastly the movie does have some pretty interesting scenes towards the end that are quite great, I think my main issue with this movie was it wasn’t as strong as it could have been. It does feel like at times this movie does hold back from being even better, plus I don’t think it’s going to be something that’s going to stick to a lot of people. Especially when the year goes on and more films come out, for what the movie is it’s very solid. But it’s not something to go crazy over.
7/10 B What if baby Kal-El’s rocket landed, not in Kansas, but in the Soviet Union? That is the premise of this Elseworld’s tale from DC Comics. Superman Red Son is a huge example of a movie that knows how to have fun and not take itself ultra seriously, it’s pretty much an alternate universe Superman works under Joseph Stalin, Batman is a villain, Lois Lane and Lex Luther are married. The movie is insane but that’s just what’s so good about it, the animation is quite great with some really well done action scenes. Does the movie take a bit to get going? Absolutely but that does not take away from what this movie gave, plus I also like how much different this movie is from the other DCAU movies. The writing is solid in a lot of areas and the character development is pretty decent. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea but if it does peak your interest I recommend giving it a try.
What do I even say about this? It’s the exact same thing as the original but CGI…This is the type of remakes I just don’t like at all, it’s a shot by shot remake of a movie that quite frankly putting nostalgia glasses aside wasn’t exactly amazing (although I loved it as a kid) the only few things I can praise here are how the Pokemon looked in the CGI and the battle scenes were fun as well….that’s really about it the design for the human characters like Ash for example were horrendous, like they were genuinely terrifying and not in a good way. My huge issue with this movie is just how soulless it feels, it feels like it was made for no other reason then to pull on nostalgic strings and hope people still care for the Pokemon movies in generally. This movie is pretty much the Psycho (1998) or The Lion King (2019) of remakes. The only few differences I did catch were two things, one Jessie and James don’t dress up as Vikings In this one or have the accents (which you know what I’ll give the movie that, I can understand why they would remove that.) something I DO NOT understand however is why they removed a lot of the music like Brother My Brother. Sadly the scene when Ash turns to stone is nowhere near as strong as it was in the original. In this one it just feels not as strong and just very weak. I feel like that’s mainly due to how soulless the CGI is versus the traditional animation the original used. Overall there is really not much more for me to say, it’s a very pointless remake that really could have went without making.
Overwhelmed with his Kingly duties, Norm’s crown is stolen and he embarks on a journey to find it in conjunction with repairing his family’s relationship. You know every time I review/watch one of these garbage movies it feels like I’m yelling at an empty cavern and hearing my echo. Because these movies are always the EXACT SAME THING. Norm of The North should had never even been a franchise let alone a movie, what can I say that I haven’t said already about the other movies? Same garbage writing, a very cliched plot that has been done better in at least 100 different movies. Horrendous jokes only this time I believe they added more bathroom and fart jokes…well done! Horrendous writing that makes you want to hit yourself against a wall, oh yeah there’s also a dance scene that is terrible one of the worst things in a film I’ve seen so far this year. This movie seriously doesn’t add anything to the franchise whatsoever, as I said before it does almost the exact same stuff the previous movies have done. What’s crazy about all of this is there’s going to be a 5th one…which is just unforgivable. Please avoid this one at all costs…
A series of intertwining love stories set in the past and in the present. The Photograph really could have been something great, unfortunately it falls into the “nothing special about it” category where it’s going to be easily forgotten. Lakeith Stanfield and Issa Rae were both really good, they had great chemistry that was hands down the best part about this movie. Plus the music was quite great as well, it fit the movie quite well, everything else was just not that interesting…the flashback scenes really did not add much to the movie and were distracting, the writing was very very below average. The movie itself really doesn’t grab your attention as a viewer which is unfortunate, I will say that Stella Meghie who previously directed Everything Everything definitely improved and I think she has the potential to do really good. Overall there really is not much else to say, the movie isn’t necessarily bad as it is just not a very interesting movie to watch. 5/10 C Follows a troubled young woman returning to her hometown of Niagara Falls, where the memory of a long-ago kidnapping quickly ensnares her. While the movie itself is nothing special, with a very ordinary plot, okay acting and writing. The filming is what makes this movie, there are some really gorgeous shots in the movie that are quite wonderful to look at! Having that said the rest of the movie falls in the “okay” territory, it does have it’s interesting moments such as the first act where you are wondering where the story is going to go. But the movie does end up being predictable towards the end, with that said it’s not exactly bad but it is very forgettable.. 5/10 C
We are at the final 20 films on the list, which is the movies I really had a tough decision placing because 2019 was a pretty fantastic year. Let me just say that this is one of my favorite top 20s I’ve had since I began reviewing movies in 2013.
20.
To See Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett go from Devil’s Due to Southbound and then to Ready Or Not is truly incredible. Sure this movie might feel like a lot like You’re Next but what Ready Or Not takes a lot of elements from You’re Next and makes it its own. The movie has genuinely funny dialogue and some very thrilling moments as well, which is what really makes this movie work. It balances the two out plus when you add the genuinely great acting, writing and directing it’s one hell of a good time. Definitely one of the best times I had with a movie in 2019
19.
Greta Gerwig has only directed two films in her career so far and she’s really showing how much talent she has. Little Women really turns it up to eleven, what mostly gets this movie in the top 20 is mostly the direction and acting. The casting choices were absolutely brilliant especially Saoirse Ronan and Florence Pugh, the direction from Greta Gerwig is flawless. Greta Gerwig has shown that she knows how to insert tons of emotion in a film, she also keeps it down to reality with the very raw writing. Lastly there’s the costume design that really convinces you it’s taking place at the time of the movie. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Greta Gerwig does next.
18.
Alex Ross Perry’s Her Smell….this is a movie I wish got so much more spotlight. For starters Elizabeth Moss gives a fantastic performance its both realistic and quite powerful as well. It only shows how well done Elizabeth Moss and her character are during the second half of the movie which is quite honestly some of the most powerful scenes in the 2010s. Between the acting, writing, direction it’s honestly some heartbreaking and powerful stuff to watch. If you haven’t had the chance to watch this movie yet please do so when you can!
17.
I’m going to keep this remotely short, Mike Flanagan is a director I’ve always loved. He’s shown time and time again that he really knows how to direct a horror film. Doctor Sleep could have easily gone wrong, but thanks to Flanagan’s direction it really turns out to be one of the best Stephen King adaptions in years. Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and Kyliegh Curran all do a fantastic job. Especially Ferguson who really gets into character and comes off genuinely creepy. I feel what separates this movie from a lot of others is it feels like an old soul, think The Shining but has new technology everything else is the same. The cinematography is beautiful, the score is beautiful what else can I say?
16.
Rian Johnson’s Knives Out…there’s tons to say about this one, but I’ll keep it simple! First off Johnson knows how to make a film, he gets the audience to expect one thing only to surprise you with something completely different that twists the movie. The performances from everyone all around is really great, the writing is written cleverly and has some hilarious moments. It’s the type of movie that throws a lot of twists at you and keeps you guessing during the mystery.
15.
Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart is going to go down as a coming of age classic, the movie takes Lady Bird and Super Bad…combines them and makes it it’s own. Kaitlyn Dever, Beanie Feldstein both have incredible chemistry both of them are hilarious and the acting from both is top notch. The character development, writing, jokes are all seriously well done. But what makes this truly special is the balance between the humor and character development, plus the movie has a lot of heart as well. The humor itself is perfect, I still stand by to what I said in my review how I haven’t laughed this much in awhile from a movie!
14.
Claire Denis’s High Life came out at a time when 2019 was really struggling when it came to movies (outside a of a select few such as Her Smell, Us, Beach Bum and a few others) Robert Pattinson completely steals the show he’s fantastic, as well as Mia Goth and the rest of the cast. The writing was perfect it felt natural but at the same time meaningful, the cinematography was outstanding and the atmosphere was thrilling and shows how beautiful the film is. The movie has some disturbing imagery that caught me off guard Claire Denis (the director) said “it’s important how people are feeling even when they are brutal” which the film does just that. It explores the characters, it shows the emotions and journey, it shows the suffering some of the characters are going through. If you haven’t checked this one out yet please do so.
13.
James Gray’s (Lost city Of Z) Ad Astra is truly something special, it’s both haunting and mesmerizing. The movie tackles so many themes such as the relationship between father and son, Brad Pitt gives an incredible performance, the cinematography is outstanding and captivating. Lastly there’s James Gray’s direction which is quite honestly some of the best of 2019, I know it seem like I said very little that’s because this movie is very hard to go depth without spoiling which I just don’t want to do!
12.
Martin Scorsese doesn’t need an introduction the guy is a genius, his direction is masterful in this movie! Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci are all fantastic in their roles, the music captures the time period really well, the third act shows an incredible amount of talent, it shows all the types of emotions, situations and regrettable decisions. Between the filming, editing and cinematography and so on it’s incredibly well done!
11.
Celine Sciamma’s Portrait Of A Lady On Fire…what can I honestly say that hasn’t been said? First off almost immediately when this movie begins it feels very real, it becomes more and more real as it goes on. There are some certain scenes in this movie that are hypnotic they really capture you and make you really think about each scene of the movie. Having a scene where Noemie Merlant and Adele Haenel just stare at each other on the beach for a solid minute or two feels VERY real it’s one of those things where you just can’t describe. The cinematography is some of the best of 2019 the film is just gorgeous every single shot in this movie has something to compliment about the film, the acting and writing are both excellent and feel very raw, I said this earlier in the list about Last Black Man In San Francisco but Portrait Of A Lady On Fire feels like a painting. A beautiful one the type of painting you would just keep looking at for hours and hours on end, it’s really remarkable on how beautiful this film is.
And that will be it for this part! Stay tuned for the final part of my best list which will be 10-1
The Assistant is going to be one of the most underrated films of 2020 and it’s such a damn shame, because this film has a lot to say about sexual abuse or abuse in general in a workplace. First off let me start off with the performances..they are all fantastic especially Julia Garner, what really makes these performances powerful is how raw they feel it’s to the point where they are actually disturbing given the subject matter of the film. Speaking of which in a lot of ways this movie is disturbing, but it’s the type of disturbing that really gets to you. Combine that with the atmosphere of the film Kitty Green did a fantastic job of capturing the atmosphere of sexual abuse happening in a working environment, I was seriously stunned of how well she captured it! Something I thought this movie did that was really clever was that we never actually see the boss of the company, which makes sense because not everyone in a working place this huge depicted in the film ever really meets their boss. I also thought Kitty Green captured the mannerisms of the coworkers in this type of environment really well, such as some of the coworkers just shrugging it off because they are so use to it. The writing was perfect it’s something you would most definitely hear in a working environment like this, it’s very raw and really gets you into what’s going on. The filming is perfect there are a lot of very impressive shots that are so well done and capture the environment, atmosphere and a lot more. If you have the chance please go check this one out, it’s an experience that is very unique and one you won’t regret! A searing look at a day in the life of an assistant to a powerful executive. As Jane follows her daily routine, she grows increasingly aware of the insidious abuse that threatens every aspect of her position.
A sled dog struggles for survival in the wilds of the Yukon. Chris Sanders is a director I have always liked, I loved Lilo and Stitch and I really like How to Train Your Dragon. The Call Of The Wild is his first live action movie and it’s pretty decent, what really helps this movie is two major things…the acting and cinematography combined with the setting. Harrison Ford does a fantastic job in his role as well as everyone else. Plus the costume design really makes you feel you are in that time period which is very nice. The cinematography is absolutely beautiful especially when combined with the setting, there’s a lot of breathtaking moments that really capture this whimsical feel to it. With that said the movie does run into some problems such as the CGI which is quite bad, the script could have been a lot stronger than it was. Granted the writing wasn’t necessarily bad as it was just very very okay. I think the major problem this movie is going to run into is we just had a movie just like this released 2 months ago which was Togo which I found to be the better of the two. But this movie still does a lot really well, it has it’s heartwarming moments and it’s a nice movie to watch to kill some time. If your liked Togo you will absolutely love this movie!
6/10 C+ After a family moves into the Heelshire Mansion, their young son soon makes friends with a life-like doll called Brahms. William Brent Bell is still getting work after crap after crap movie…I also find it truly hilarious that he would come back from the first movie and completely contradict it with a and I use this term VERY loosely “sequel” at least the first movie had it’s moments and wasn’t THIS…first off this movie is a cliche gauntlet. Lazy jumpscares, a terribly built atmosphere and having the doll as paranormal…ugh, acting and writing wise it’s terrible there really isn’t much to say when it comes to that. It feels like nobody gave a crap and the writing was just uninspired as all hell. The only thing I can give this movie is having maybe one or two moments that were actually passable and the filming is fine enough, otherwise this is a huge trainwreck that was waiting to happen. How anyone thought having a sequel was a good idea is just mind boggling. If you have seen any terrible horror movie in your life congratulations you have already seen Brahms The Boy II. Give this a skip..
A veteran D.C. journalist loses the thread of her own narrative when a guilt-propelled errand for her father thrusts her from byline to unwitting subject in the very story she’s trying to break. Adapted from Joan Didion’s namesake novel. Some people might be under the impression that I’m being way too harsh with a lot of movies so far this year, it’s only almost the end of February (at the time this was written) and I’ve given five movies my lowest rating so far….well make that six! Trust me when I say this movie is complete nonsensical garbage, it’s almost baffling on how bad this movie really is, first off Anne Hathaway, Ben Affleck and Willem Dafoe can’t save this movie from being complete failure, the acting is so piss poor and the movie itself is so poorly put together as well. There is so many tonal issues, this movie tries to be so many things at once. One moment it’s trying to be a thriller and at another it’s trying to be this drama that has nothing going on at all. That’s another thing this is one of those movies where it’s just so hard to describe what actually happened, this movie didn’t make any coherent sense and the characters make really stupid decisions for no reason. What’s baffling about all of this is it’s directed by Dee Rees who previously directed Mudbound which was really great, so it’s really surprising to see something this bad from her, the writing is complete garbage like a lot of the other choices with this movie I genuinely don’t know what they were trying to do with is movie. Plus like a lot of bad movies this one feels like a chore to sit through, which is never a good sign when the viewer starts to feel like watching the movie feels like some sort of chore you failed to connect with your audience. The movie also feels way too made for TV not Netflix, overall this is so far the biggest embarrassment of 2020. I will say the good thing about this is this movie will most likely be forgotten about by next month so that’s a plus, but that still doesn’t change that this movie is complete and total garbage and should be avoided.
We are about to enter the top 20, so this list just got a lot harder. Trust me when I say making some decisions with this list was not easy at all!
29.
Toy Story 4 was a movie I was very skeptical about, mostly because just how incredible the 3rd movie was and how much of a good job it did wrapping up the story. But this movie really did impress me quite a lot, Josh Cooley did a fantastic job with this film, but what really makes this film great is Woody. I said this in my review and I’ll say it again here Woody is one of the best characters who had some of the best character development throughout a franchise in film history. This movie only proves that statement because of how well he’s done in this one, some of the new characters like Forky are very cleverly written. Of course the movie has it’s emotional moments, lastly throughout this franchise this series has made you want to connect with the toys and have the toys be relatable. Sure there toys but they have a lot of human aspects to them, the movie explores several different themes as well. Toy Story 4 was a fantastic conclusion and certainly one of my favorite animated movies of the 2010s.
28.
Sebastian James and Ramez Silyan’s documentary Everybody’s Everything is one I wish got a lot more spotlight. This movie has a lot of heart honoring Lil Peep who sadly died in 2017, what makes this documentary so powerful is you see all these people in the documentary talking about how much of an amazing person he was and when the film does talk about his death you see the shock and pain from everyone involved, the movie does a fantastic job of showing how Lil Peep got his career stared as an artist. The film is also very well made, Terrance Malik was involved with this movie and you can definitely tell. Everybody’s Everything is a tribute to Lil Peep it told his story in such a beautiful way.
27.
Melina Matsoukas is going to have one strong career going forward, because Queen & Slim was really something special. The acting from Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith was powerful they gave such raw performances that were some standouts in 2019. I said in my review that this movie had tons of disturbing moments which it most definitely does, it’s not afraid to show how disturbing and graphic police brutality is. The writing feels Incredibly raw to the point where the characters in the film could be actual people you may know or meet. The cinematography, camera angles combined with the settings are masterful, it’s no surprise due to Melina Matsoukas mainly working on a ton of music videos before this film. This is one incredible film to start with as your directional debut (for movies) I’m excited to see what she does next!
26.
In 2018 we had Won’t You Be My Neighbor which was one of my favorites of that year, now in 2019 we have A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood directed by Marielle Heller. Tom Hanks knocks it out of the park has Fred Rogers not only does he look exactly like him but he captures what made Rogers so likable and how he was as a person, always wanting to help others, talk to others, discuss heavy issues and much more. Marielle Heller seriously did a fantastic job with this film she really shows how much care she put into this film and was knowledgeable as possible about Fred Rogers. There’s the emotional moments, the heartwarming moments and the powerful moments. This movie really shows how much Fred Rogers impacted a ton of people!
25.
Jon Watts (Clown, Cop Car, Spider-Man Homecoming) returns to the director’s chair for Spider-Man Far From Hone, something I was a bit worried about with this movie was Endgame a few months earlier and I was afraid this movie would be overshadowed by it or people’s expectations would incredibly high to the point where it would disappoint even if it was still very good. Luckily they did not happen, I won’t say too much because this one really speaks for itself, Tom Holland does a really great job as Spider-Man, Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio was a brilliant choice he brought everything he had to the character plus unlike a lot of MCU villains he got some really strong character development and had a motivation. The writing was some of the best of the MCU so far, it had a balance of jokes and serious moments which is something some MCU films have failed to do. This movie is everything a sequel should do, improve some stuff from the previous film in this case Homecoming.
24.
Julius Onah had one of the biggest comebacks in 2019, he went from directing as something as disappointing and terrible as Cloverfield Paradox to a really strong film like Luce. The movie has this “We Need To Talk About Kevin” Vibe and it really works, Kelvin Harrison Jr’s performance is fantastic. As well as Octavia Spencer, Naomi Watts and Tim Roth, what really blows my mind is how well written this film was. It goes for a realistic tone and gives off this thrilling tone as well which it works extremely well. Onah really does a fantastic job directing, creating an atmosphere, and very powerful realistic scenes that will leave you surprised. If you haven’t checked it out yet go into the movie knowing as little as possible like I did, you won’t regret it!
23.
I really don’t think I need to comment much on Joker, Joaquin Phoenix kills it as Joker, he brings his own unique style to the character as well as the dread, and insanity he even expands on the character as well. The movie has this raw feeling with some very disturbing scenes, the film shows the darkest sides to Gotham city, it’s ugly (and I don’t mean in a bad way!) but at the same time it’s mesmerizing, the last 15-20 minutes are completely insanity, the movie is a ticking time bomb anything can happen. It shows just how demented and psychotic Arthur/Joker really is!
22.
I’ll keep this rather short, Avengers Endgame is a film that’s had been building up for many years and the result is just incredible, from the strong acting from everybody to the writing that is some of the best of the MCU. To having Thanos one of the best villains of the MCU if not THE best so far. The film just has so much that’s really strong, the film makes you care about the characters and really shows how far this franchise has come and will continue to do so!
21.
This movie narrowly misses the top 20 it was a very hard decision…however this movie is still one hell of a fantastic film! Harmony Korine has always been one of my favorite directors (Gummo, Spring Breakers and a few others) and he really does a fantastic job here! Matthew McConaughey gives easily one of his best performances, everyone in this movie is great heck even Snoop Dogg, the jokes work really well for the film. The cinematography is beautiful, the movie itself makes you care for the characters and it’s just a one of a kind experience! Absolutely well done go into this movie knowing as little as possible!
That will wrap up part four! Stay tuned for part 5 where we look at 20-11!
