Top 60 Worst Movies Of 2019 (29-21)

From this point forward it only gets worse, here’s the movies that didn’t quite make the bottom 20 but were very close.

29.

It’s safe to say John Travolta’s acting career is on life support at this point, in 2018 Gotti was released and that did some damage and now there’s this one. Travolta pretty much goes full on Nicholas Cage mode in this movie and it’s quite an embarrassment, the acting is horrendous there’s no other way to put it. The writing is the worst thing about this movie, sure there are times where you will laugh out loud because of how idiotic this movie is. But a lot of the time it’s painful to watch, I still stand by how this movie feels like a parody of a thriller movie but instead it wants to be taken seriously.

28.

From director Daniel Farrands comes another terrible Amityville movie, what can I say that I already haven’t said about this franchise? It’s tired, it’s been done to death and there’s nothing else to tell. The acting is terrible, the writing is even worse. This movie was an attempt to be more realistic but instead turned out to almost the exact same thing as some of the other movies in the series. Oh yeah and the movie is nothing but jumpscares…brilliant!

27.

Tall Girl is the prime example of writers not knowing how actual teenagers talk, I’m sure there are some cases of people being bullied because they are tall. However this movie makes it sound like that it’s a worldwide problem, other than that this is your typical horrible high school movie. With terrible writing, horrible acting and some very piss poor character development. I mean for god sake the main character In one scene goes from hating that she’s tall to loving who she is within 5 minutes, it’s lazy and really lacks development.

26.

Escape Plan The Extractors is a movie nobody asked for but we got it anyway, apparently it was filmed back to back with the second movie. It doesn’t help that this is almost identical to the second movie, except it’s tweaked a bit. Sylvester Stallone and David Bautista aren’t enough to save this movie from being a disaster, the action scenes are ugly to look at, the writing is a complete and total mess. What else is there to say? As I said before this movie is basically the second movie so this really does not serve any purpose other than to get some money.

25.

Once again do I really need to say a lot? 10 Minutes Gone is another Bruce Willis/Lionsgate movie directed by the same director who’s directed most of them Brian A. Miller such as The Prince, Reprisal and Vice (not the Dick Cheney movie) like those other movies this movie is horrendous it might be even worse as well. Bruce Willis basically doesn’t care when it comes to his acting in this movie, the editing is Taken 3 levels of bad, the writing is pretty much the exact same thing from the other movies. It’s like the writers found a script for one of the other Bruce Willis movies they didn’t use and decided to use it here. I sincerely hope Bruce Willis is payed good money for these garbage movies…

24.

Did you know that the budget for this movie is 12 million dollars? That’s more than some actual fantastic films like Upgrade and Hereditary!! Long story short Lindsay Lohan is in this movie, once upon a time she used to be really great but now…well you know. As for the movie it’s a disaster, the acting as you would expect is horrible, the writing is horrendous, the filming is like something from a terrible early 2000s movie. The fact this movie has a 12 million dollar budget and it feels like that nobody knew how to work a camera for this movie is just amazing.

23.

A movie like Rim Of The World should not be this bad, but unfortunately it really is this bad. The sad thing is this is by a director I genuinely like, I’m going to ask this question again how do you go from The Babysitter which was a very fun movie to something as brain dead and terrible as this?? The first thing you will notice with this movie is yes this is pretty much a Stranger Things/Super 8 ripoff, what’s even worse is you have kids in this movie cracking sex jokes and some actual offensive stereotypes (it gets very uncomfortable at times which makes it even worse) the special effects are unforgivable it felt like the type you would see on a very bad straight to DVD movie but this was a Netflix release. The acting is horrible, the writing is a complete and total joke and the premise just wasn’t taken advantage of even though it should have been.

22.

What I said about “Tall Girl” can be said here, the movie suffers the exact same problems as “Tall Girl” does. Poorly acted, horribly written and the writers once again proving they have no idea how an actual high schooler talks. When was the last time you heard a teenager say “Dude your IMDb is blowing up right now!!” Probably never, it doesn’t help that the movie is very uninspired and goes with the most typical types of plots for these movies as it can.

21.

Hey remember those garbage early 2000s family movies you always saw the trailer for and just rolled your eyes because of how idiotic they looked? Well one of them somehow got released in 2019 and it’s called Playing With Fire, to be fair I wasn’t expecting this movie to be this terrible. The jokes in this movie are filled with fart and poop jokes that’s really all you have to know about this movie, it’s poorly acted and written and is no different from other crappy family movies in the past. How or why this got released in 2019 is a mystery.

Stay tuned for the next part where we will start the bottom 20 (20-11)

Top 60 Worst Movies Of 2019 (39-30)

39.

This movie shouldn’t have to be on this list, but sadly it is! Slaughterhouse Rulez had tons of potential to be something really great, unfortunately what bogs it down is horrendous jokes, the complete trainwreck of a last act in the movie and just how painful this movie is to watch. It has a lot of talented people involved with it which makes it even more puzzling on how this turned out so terrible, I guess what does save it from being any higher on the list is that some people like Asa Butterfield do try to make it work. Also the fact Simon Pegg was one of the executive producers is just embarrassing.

38.

Mapplethorpe was another movie I was pretty excited for, being a Photography enthusiast I was excited to see how this movie would tackle someone like Mapplethorpe. Unfortunately this movie doesn’t add anything new to the conversation about him, but what absolutely kills this movie is how the film is shot and how it looks. For a movie about a photographer who had a captivating aesthetic this movie is very ugly and is shockingly poorly made, the casting for Patti Smith was terrible Marianne Rendon really tried her best with such a garbage script but she just didn’t feel right. This movie has seemed to be forgotten by a lot of people which is probably for the best.

37.

What can I honestly say about this movie? How did they people over at the Disney Channel think this was a good idea? They messed up big time with this movie, from the acting, from the portrayal of the characters it’s a complete and total mess. I tend to avoid being very harsh with Disney Channel movies because while a lot of them aren’t necessarily good some of them are indeed fun to watch. This movie however is just painful and completely misses what made Kim Possible a great show.

36.

I’m not fully understanding why someone like Jamie Lee Curtis would take part in something so terrible, it’s by the director of Curse Of Michael Myers that in itself should tell you how bad this movie is, the acting is atrocious, the writing is terrible, the direction is all over the place. It’s uninteresting, uninspired and just something not worth looking into…next!!

35.

Somebody really thought doing a re-imagining of a classic silent era film was a great idea? Spoiler alert it was not, the movie is a horribly written mess, that is nowhere near as effective as the original which takes away the creepiness or the suspense.

34.

Run The Montages….oops I mean Run The Race, this movie for whatever reason had a thing for montages which was definitely the most annoying thing about it. It doesn’t help that this movie felt like something that should have only been released on VOD not be given a theater release, it feels like a high school project that received an F. The acting is horrendous and this movie features some painfully bad line deliveries, it also doesn’t help that this movie is one of those movies where the writers are so out of touch on how people actually talk it’s quite embarrassing.

33.

Drunk Parents…..where Alec Baldwin plays the typical asshole character with no likability at all and Salma Hayek is just used for slapstick! I just summed this movie up with not too many words, everything from the jokes (which mostly consist of Salma Hayek getting hit, tripped or falling over) to the chemistry between Baldwin and Hayek which is very awkward and completely fails on every level.

32.

The fact John R. Leonetti is still finding work is mind boggling, he is responsible for some of the most bottom of the barrel movies such as Mortal Kombat Annihilation, Wish Upon, the first Annabelle movie, Wolves at the Door and now The Silence. Plus it doesn’t help that two writers who wrote some Asylum movies and the Chernobyl Diaries are involved with this. The movie is horribly edited, it might not be up there with Taken 3 in terms of bad editing but it’s quite terrible. The stupid decision making in this movie was ridiculous, nobody in the right mind would make any of these decisions, what’s worse is the special effects for the Bat Chickens…they feel like something straight out of a SyFy channel movie or an Asylum movie which does make sense because some people involved did make some Asylum movies. I really can’t put into anymore words how terrible this movie is let’s just move on.

31.

The Hustle is a movie I really can’t comment much on, it’s a very unfunny comedy that a lot of people forgot it even existed. It’s just a bunch of fat jokes, terrible acting and writing, a terrible British accent from Hathaway but to be absolutely fair it’s not her fault she had one week to prepare for the British accent and the only reason why she had to do a Australian accent was because Rebel Wilson had one….idk either.

30.

Playmobil The Movie is the movie everyone thought The LEGO movie was gonna turn out to be, there really isn’t much to say here. This movie tries desperately to do everything the LEGO Movie did but only much much worse, the voice acting isn’t good, the jokes are terrible, it doesn’t do anything special with the plot. There’s no world building or development the songs the movie did have were piss poor nobody could sing except Anya Taylor Joy. So basically it’s a Walmart version of The LEGO Movie.

Stay tuned for the next part where we will tackle 29-21

Top 60 Worst Movies Of 2019 44-40

44.

Hayden Christensen for whatever reason takes part in this disaster, there really isn’t a whole lot to say about this movie other then it’s horribly acted, written and the movie goes for this very hideous style that’s so hard to look at because it’s so ugly, not to mention that it’s a complete and total mess of a film…ugh next!!

43.

Outlaws or previously known as “1%” is another movie that took awhile to release and it’s not hard to see why, the writing is laughably bad, the acting is very over the top. It also feels like it should have been made for TV if you have seen any given thriller you have already seen this movie. Oh yeah that’s my biggest problem with this movie, there’s nothing special about it…it feels way too manufactured to the point where you can pretty much guess what happens in the movie and chances are you would be 100% correct.

42.

This is another movie while making this list I completely forgot what this was, but then I remembered “oh yeah this was the Walmart version of Atomic Blonde” my biggest issue with this movie is that it was outclassed by MUCH better action movies that came out in 2019, outside of a few action scenes this movie is pretty much your terrible action movie that refuses to do anything different, the story has been done to death, the acting is terrible, the writing felt like it was done in less then two seconds. Lastly this movie feels like it was made to be shoved on to VOD but was given a theater release at the last second which I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.

41.

Again a lot of people are going to have this movie much higher on their lists, which I definitely understand why. I just didn’t have much expectations with this movie, as I said in my review it was one of the most pointless films of the year and I still stand by that. The movie feels like it was written by a boomer who always yells “back in my day” or “snowflake” and thinks that’s a valid argument, the movie is also very homophobic, misogynistic and overall very mean spirited. The acting and writing are both terrible and the direction is just piss poor.

40.

Oh good god…Dark Phoenix talk about a mess of a movie, this is how they really ended the Fox X-Men movies (I know New Mutants is still counted but it’s a spin-off) between Sophie Turner giving an emotionless and a poorly acted performance. To Jessica Chastain’s character being a worse version of an early MCU villain, the movie has no life in it whatsoever and just feels like a very terrible and rushed climax to the series. There are so many weird choices that were made throughout this movie, it felt like they mad stuff up as they went along with it. I could say a lot more about this one but I feel like most people already get the idea of how bad this one is.

To be continued in the next part where we will cover 39-30 (yes I’m gonna speed this up a little bit.)

Top 60 Worst Movies Of 2019 49-45

49.

This is one of those movies that really only talks about common knowledge to anyone who’s familiar with the topic and for new people you can learn much more from the Wikipedia page than you can from this movie. It feels like this movie was supposed to be some History channel special but ended up getting a limited theater release and VOD release, Judy Dench for whatever reason is in the movie for 12 minutes which I’m still trying to figure out why they even bothered putting her in the film. It’s very shocking how bad this movie was, it may seem like a pretty okay movie but do not be fooled watch at your own risk.

48.

So here’s the first actual theater release (unless you are counting that this was actually released on Netflix in other countries) on the list and what a way to start. As I said in my review this is by the same studio who did Norm Of The North…but it’s as bad, but trust me that is not saying much at all. The animation is very cheap it also feels like the type of animation. You would see in the $5 bin at Walmart, it tries to go for a Zootopia feel but takes a very wrong turn and the movie just feels like one of those horrible animated movies that serve no point at all. I did say in my review the only okay thing about this movie was Jeremy Renner and that remains true, without him this movie would be so much lower on the list.

47.

This is by the same exact director who did Amityville Awakening….that in itself should explain why this is on the list, it’s amazing how many movies about someone surviving on an island were released in 2019, this one felt like all the others except it had nothing new to add and featured some really bad acting, terrible writing and finally felt like an very early 2000s horrible horror movie. It’s also kind of baffling that Blumhouse would attach their name on something like this…not much else to say

46.

If I had to name a movie that had no idea what it wanted to be I would name this one, it wants to be a movie about a cute lion that’s fine. But then the movie throws in the parents yelling at each other which takes quite a bit of the running time, the movie feels like a TV movie with horrible acting and writing. The movie is strangely mean spirited and seems to not know what the target audience is.

45.

I know Secret Obsession is going to be much higher on a lot of people’s list’s which let me make it clear I can perfectly understand why. However for me I felt like it was a LifeTime channel movie that somehow ended up being a Netflix Original, not only that but it’s your everyday horrible thriller that has no suspense in it at all, the acting is terrible, the writing is poorly done, the movie is very predictable and it feels very cheaply made. I will say that luckily this movie is very forgettable..

Top 60 Worst Movies Of 2019 54-50

54.

This is one of those movies that I feel terrible putting on a list like this, but unfortunately the movie is just not interesting at all. Sure the filming was good but everything else was just not interesting, doesn’t really pull the audience in and is about as interesting as those ads you get in the mail. Objectively this movie might not be as bad as some of the other entries so far on the list but at least with some of the other movies have a much smaller budget…this movie doesn’t get away with that.

53.

I really don’t have much to comment on with this movie, this is one of those straight to DVD movies I didn’t bother giving a full review because of how cliched and non noteworthy the movie is. What puts this movie on the list is the editing it’s absolutely atrocious at the time this was released (January 2019) horrible editing was a recurring theme with a lot of movies that were being released and this was definitely no exception.

52.

So from my understanding there were actually two movies named “Boo!” That were released in 2019, however I haven’t seen one of them and I wish I didn’t see this one either…this is one of those movies that felt like it took years to release in America. Which oh boy I can see why, the movie has laughably bad CGI blood effects, horrendous pacing, the acting felt like nobody gave a crap and the writing is so formulaic it’s not even funny. This is also one of those movies where you can’t even tell what happened because it’s so bad.

51.

To be quite honest I almost forgot what this movie was when I was making this list, but then I remembered “oh yeah this is by the guy who did Amityville the next generation and this is the invasion of the body snatchers ripoff.” I really don’t have much to say about this one, the acting is horrendous, the movie has this very ugly TV movie feel, the direction is absolutely horrendous and the movie is very predictable. In my review I said that this was one of the laziest movies of the year at the time when I watched it….that’s still pretty accurate.

50.

Otherhood is an interesting one, it has very good intentions and I know that it means well. But that does not give it a pass at all, the acting is very poor, the writing is horrendous and it’s just not funny at the slightest and like I said in my review it doesn’t give the audience time to feel like it’s relatable. It doesn’t help that a lot of the scenes in the movie feel extremely awkward and even some of the actors look very uncomfortable, if there’s one thing this movie does is it adds to Netflix’s horrible original comedy movies nobody will look back on.

To be continued with Part 3 where we will cover 49-45!!

Top 60 Worst Movies Of 2019 (60-55)

For the first handful we are going to speed through some of these because I honestly do not have a whole lot to say about some of these…let’s begin.

60.

Lifechanger has a very decent premise that could have honestly worked if the execution wasn’t done so piss poorly. The acting and writing are horrendous and the blood effects….are just no.

59.

As soon as I planning out this list I knew Holiday In The Wild would make some sort of appearance on this list, in my review I pointed out how this is barely a Christmas movie and for whatever reason it shoves this “save the elephants” message at the end. Which again I have no problem with but it felt like the movie threw that in at the last second. Yes the elephants were a plot point but still, otherwise the movie is horribly acted, written and feels like a Hallmark channel movie that somehow got on to Netflix. I guess what does save this movie from being any lower is it does have it’s laughably bad moments but those are far and few in between.

58.

I’m not sure why I even bothered with this one, PawParazzi is the very definition of straight to DVD movie, it looks like it was made with a $5 budget, the acting, writing and everything else is garbage. Still to this very day I’m lost on what actually happened in this movie, stop it with these talking animal movies they never end up being good.

57.

There’s usually this secret rule with my worst lists if it doesn’t have an Amityville movie my opinions aren’t valid (just kidding) all joking aside it’s amazing how these movies are still being made, this time they made the movie about Mt Misery Road which is near the Amityville horror house….yes they got that desperate, as I said in my review if they wanted to make a movie about Misery Road and not Amityville that would have been fine and Vice versa however I felt like they slapped Amityville on the cover just to get a recognizable name. Otherwise the acting is horrible, the writing is a joke and the movie is horribly crafted, this could have been interesting but they went with something so tired and worthless. How this franchise is still going is just mind blowing.

56.

Not a whole lot to say about this one, it’s pretty much another movie trying to be the first Saw movie while throwing in an affair plot element into it, the director should really be a red flag on how bad this movie is going to be, it’s the guy who did Hellraiser Revelations and The Damned, the characters are paper thin with no personality and the acting is atrocious.

55.

Whoever was in charge of the production for Viking Siege needs to be fired immediately, some of the absolute worst production 2019 had to offer, the movie is very ugly to look at and just had no life in it. Not to mention the movie is horribly crated and is a complete and total mess, I’m not sure how anyone working on this film could look at this and say “yeah that’s good enough release it!”

To be continued with 54-50

The Two Popes (2019)

Behind the Vatican walls, Pope Benedict and the future Pope Francis must find common ground to forge a new path for the Catholic Church.

There is honestly not a whole lo to say but here’s some thoughts! The Two Popes was a film that kind of entered the award season very unexpectedly, which I will admit is one of the biggest reasons why I watched it. While I don’t think the movie is really best picture worthy (there’s just way too much big competition this year) there is still a lot to like about this movie. For starters the story it tells is very engaging and really captures it with the filming and writing that draw you into the film, Jonathan Pryce and Anthony Hopkins both do a fantastic job in their roles. They really bring everything to the table and really deliver in their roles, if I had one major negative against the movie it would be the pacing. It feels very slow at times where it shouldn’t have to be but I can understand why they went that route, overall The Two Popes is a pretty solid movie not one of my absolute favorites of the year but still something worth checking out!

8/10 B+

The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019)

Zak runs away from his care home to make his dream of becoming a wrestler come true. I’ll keep this short, it’s very strong movie that does everything it was set out to do (for the most part) I thought the cast was really strong Shia LaBeouf gives a very strong performance as well as Zack Gottsagen. The writing was also very solid and did deliver on some heartwarming moments, not every single one of these moments hit as much as the movie wanted to. But when they did hit they delivered,  the movie does tackle something that is not in a lot of movies which is one of the main characters having Down syndrome. Which will definitely separate this movie from a lot of others, I may not like it not nearly as much as a lot of people. I can appreciate what the movie was doing but I do feel like it was a tad overrated. It does hit some familiar territory but it’s overall a very strong film.
8/10 B+

Another Stephen King hit!!

Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. From the director of Starry Eyes, the original Pet Sematary is one of my absolute favorite Stephen King adaptions. When I heard this movie was going to be more closer to the book I was pretty excited and man did this not disappoint! I thought the acting was generally pretty great especially from Jete Laurence, she was genuinely creepy and was definitely one of the better “creepy kids” in awhile. The setting was really well done combine that with the atmosphere and you got yourself a very thrilling ride, speaking of which this movie absolutely nailed the atmosphere. It was suspenseful and actually very terrifying at times which is something I really did not expect at all, it’s the type of atmosphere you really don’t feel very often in some other mainstream horror movies. The writing was also pretty solid, however there were a few moments that weren’t exactly great but the rest of the movie makes up for that! The ending I personally thought was a really great idea, it was strong and honestly unexpected (if you didn’t watch the other trailers), it definitely fit the whole sense of loss the movie was going for. Speaking of that the movie does a fantastic job with that premise, the movie explores the sense of loss and does a fantastic job with it. Which does lead to some very thrilling scenes and some well done filming as well! The movie also does a fantastic job of combing the exploring the sense of loss with it’s scares, there’s some genuinely terrifying scenes in this movie that are beautifully done. Overall Pet Sematary is one of the better modern Stephen King adaptions and is definitely a thrilling ride! I highly recommend giving this one a watch!
