Blasting off on a NASA space mission in 1998, mischievous best pals Beavis and Butt-head time travel to the year 2022. As the NSA and U.S. government try to track them down, the clueless teens do their best to adjust to modern life.
If you are going to bring back certain characters such as Beavis and Butt-Head into the modern setting this is absolutely the way to do it. Beavis and Butt-Head Do The Universe is exactly what you would expect and in a good way, the humor, style and feel of the series is still here in all of it’s glory. The movie focuses on certain types of humor such as some Sci-Fi humor and politic humor however it doesn’t take away from the humor we all expect from Beavis and Butt-Head. It’s such a creative and strong balance one doesn’t feel like it’s being completely shoved aside, the film also understands what made the series so great and in fact makes that known in the film, with tons of clever humor while making sure the characters just as enjoyable as they were In the series. Beavis and Butt-Head do the universe is such a treat and an absolute blast, definitely check this one out!!
Beavis And Butt-Head Do The Universe is available on Paramount+
Set at an institute devoted to culinary and alimentary performance, a collective finds itself embroiled in power struggles, artistic vendettas and gastrointestinal disorders.
Peter Strickland has made yet another very strange movie and I think I liked it quite a bit, Flux Gourmet features a lot of absurdism and isn’t shy about it at all. From the characters, atmosphere and the writing it’s one very strange experience, the acting from the cast is quite great Gwendoline Christie in particular gives a pretty unique performance that captures the movie’s spirit, Asa Butterfield actually gives one of the best performances of his career. The writing has a very comedic yet bizarre nature to it that’s really fascinating to listen to and watch play out, there’s definitely a lot of slow burn elements that are most certainly not going to be for everyone, especially given just how bizarre this movie ends up getting. However it’s still a very interesting watch that I do recommend.
A New York City screw-up named Teddy who is mistaken for the “Man from Toronto” when the two wind up in the same Airbnb. Antics ensue.
Patrick Hughes is at it again with another terrible action comedy movie, The Man From Toronto faced several delays, was stuck in release date limbo for a brief moment before it was ultimately sold to Netflix (originally from Sony Pictures). It’s not surprising to see why it was sold and quickly discarded, the only positive about this mess is Woody Harrelson who tries his best with the complete mess of a script he is given. Kevin Hart once again plays the exact same type of role he’s been doing for awhile and like the previous times it’s still not funny, the movie is the very definition of an action comedy that just exists. If you have seen any action comedy movie before you already seen this movie, heck Netflix has a few of them that are pretty similar to this one. The writing is a complete and total mess with several unfunny jokes and predictable moments that are facepalm worthy. The VFX are complete garbage as well especially when combined with the atrocious editing that almost feels like someone has never edited a piece of media before, which would be fine if this was some very low budget movie but no this is a $75 million dollar film released by Netflix. There is absolutely no excuse for this level of bad editing and VFX, overall The Man From Toronto is a very bad and forgettable action comedy that should most definitely be avoided.
A father must come to grips with his daughter’s upcoming wedding and handle multiple relationships within his sprawling Cuban American family.
Father Of The Bride (2022) is the third film adaption of the novel of the same name, the other two being a 1950 film and a 1991 film. I’m not going to pretend I’m a super fan of either of the movies, for what they are they are solid comedy/romantic films that do a pretty decent job of entertaining the viewer. This version falls short mostly due to it overstaying it’s welcome, is a 1 hour and 58 minute movie that has horrendous pacing. It begins to feel like a chore to sit through unfortunately mostly due to not a whole lot happening, the performances are at least decent enough Chloe Fineman being the standout who’s genuinely hilarious in her delivery. Everything else just fine I guess, the writing really doesn’t do much to engage the viewer, the direction doesn’t really do anything offensive but nothing investing. It’s the type of movie where you would only watch unless there was absolutely nothing else.
Father Of The Bride is available on HBO Max.

Laura and Harrison have the picture-perfect romance built on the foundation of a shared love of music. After a deadly accident, Laura gets the chance to save the love of her life when she discovers that their mixtape can transport her back in time.
There’s a good idea somewhere in Press Play, it’s just sadly not fully realized. The acting is not too bad here the leads Lewis Pullman and Clara Rugaard-Larsen are both solid and Danny Glover in a supporting role isn’t too bad either. The main problem with this movie is it really doesn’t have anything going for it, everything is kept at a bare minimum level and introduces the concept of the movie but never goes further with it. Or at least doesn’t do anything noteworthy with it. It just ends up being a very safe romantic drama that surprisingly struggles with it’s more emotional moments, which is mainly due to the movie not knowing how to make the characters react to said moments. At the very least it didn’t over stay it’s welcome.
Press Play is available on all VOD platforms.

Lina, a high school graduate, would rather spend her summer preparing for college than fly to Rome to fulfill her mother’s last wish. Once she decides to go, she finds herself immersed in new experiences.
I’m going to be real quick with this one because to be completely honest here…I’m not exactly sure what the whole purpose of this was. From what I could gather this movie is nothing like the book and in fact doesn’t even follow it well at all, but okay that doesn’t automatically mean it’s bad right? Well In this case it does, from the acting to the writing and the pacing it’s a complete and total mess on every single level. It’s a very lifeless movie that is the very definition of release date fodder, it’s just there so Netflix can say they released something. If you have seen any of Netflix’s terrible romantic comedies before then you have already seen this one.
Jerry Selbee discovers a mathematical loophole in the Massachusetts lottery, and with the help of his wife, Marge, he wins millions of dollars.
While on the surface Jerry & Marge go large is just another feel good movie and doesn’t do anything brand new. There’s a huge amount of charm to it that really makes it work, plus the true story the film is based on makes for a great film. I’ll quickly summarize, the true story is based on Jason Fagone’s 2018 HuffPost article of the same name. Jerry Selbee who recently retired in 2003 settled down with his wife, when one day he found a leaflet for a state lottery at some convenience shop, being someone who had a mathematician degree Selbee noticed a huge flaw in the system and exploited the loophole which was perfectly legal. This is how the couple quickly started winning, they mainly did this to help their local community which was Evart Michigan. The movie itself does a fantastic job of telling this story, Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening both do a fantastic job and give very human and raw performances that are really heartwarming. Especially when you combine it with the writing that has some genuinely funny humor that matches the tone the movie is going for, it has this old soul to it which really drives the home the movie’s point of an old couple wanting help everyone In their community. It’s the type of feeling you get when you visit your grandparents they always look out for you or want to help in anyway they can, that’s how this movie feels it’s a truly interesting approach. As I said before the movie itself isn’t going to do anything new, but this is a case where I don’t think it really needs to. The film establishes it’s goal right from the beginning and accomplishes it really well! Overall Jerry & Marge Go Large is a very heartwarming story that I highly recommend checking out.
Andrew has a major problem: he can’t stay away from the toxic boyfriend who just dumped him. His meddling friends decide to help him by creating Cristiano, a perfect fake boyfriend on social media.
My Fake Boyfriend is yet another movie produced by Buzzfeed Studios where the whole idea is to see how they can shove as many “relatable” and unfunny moments as possible, the cast at least tries their best with what they are given. But it’s nowhere near enough due to the writing being a complete and total dumpster fire, a lot of the jokes here strangely feel very dated and is the equivalent of a Buzzfeed article. As far as the plot goes there is honestly not a whole to say here, it uses an absurd idea that at first sounds really interesting and makes you wonder what they are actually going to do with it. Instead it ends up being very formulaic like a lot of romantic comedies and never does anything notable with it’s premise, it also doesn’t help that the writing feels like none of the writers have actually talked to an actual person. Which is to be expected from Buzzfeed since that’s the main criticism a lot of people use and rightfully so, finally it’s great that there is diversity but this is the type of movie where it comes off as studios wanting to sell a product rather than genuinely wanting to put diversity in their film. When you compare Fire Island a film that came out earlier this month which had gay representation to My Fake Boyfriend, the difference sticks out like a sore thumb. You have Fire Island a film that is really strong, feels like it was made with passion and not as a product while the other one is My Fake Boyfriend.
My Fake Boyfriend is available on Amazon Prime Video.
A group of queer best friends gather in the Fire Island Pines for their annual week of love and laughter, but when a sudden change of events jeopardizes their summer in gay paradise, their bonds as a chosen family are pushed to the limit.
What makes Fire Island so great is that it’s just a blast of fun, it’s about a bunch of friends just hanging out together and having normal conversations with one another. While going through situations friends normally do, the cast really makes this movie particularly Joel Kim Booster and Conrad Ricamora who have fantastic chemistry and really do a great job of making their conversations feel grounded. In fact the chemistry between everyone in the cast is really strong, some characters definitely could have used a bit more development but from what was given there was a chance for earth character to get some moments to shine. There’s some really strong humor that works well, especially when combined with Joel Booster’s writing that really creates a humorous as well as a meaningful piece!
An on-the-lam punk rocker and a young woman obsessed with his band unexpectedly fall in love and go on an epic journey together through America’s decaying Midwestern suburbs.
I’ll tell you what I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen a film where the first 30 minutes are very rough and all over the place, only for the rest of the movie to be genuinely touching and meaningful. Dinner In America is directed by Adam Rehmeier (who directed The Bunny Game) and under this punk like movie there’s a heartwarming coming of age story, what completely makes this movie is Emily Skeggs and Kyle Gallner’s chemistry that is genuinely beautiful. The film does a really great job of developing the characters and brings so much heart into them, the first 30 minutes are rough mainly due to script issues and not enough going on. Parts of it feel way too edgy for it’s own sake, but luckily that disappears after the 30 minute mark, there’s some genuinely charming scenes as we get to see Patty’s (Skeggs) and Simon’s (Gallner) relationship grow into something special. The film found a way for both characters to have equal investment and stakes to add to their relationship, finally there’s the original song that’s admittedly very catchy. Overall Dinner In America is a charming little movie that’s a heartwarming coming of age story, get by the first 30 minutes and you are in for a treat!
Stargirl goes on a journey out of Mica and into a world of music, dreams and possibility.
Hollywood Stargirl is sequel to Stargirl (2020), Stargirl (2020) was a decent enough but it did feel like a Disney channel original movie. However Hollywood Stargirl is a huge improvement sure there isn’t anything that drastically changes but it’s the little things that really help this movie. For one thing Grace Vanderhaal’s performance this time around is an improvement, while I definitely think she wasn’t bad in the previous movie she wasn’t given enough to work with due to the script. Luckily here she’s given a lot more breathing room and is able to show a lot more of her talent, Tyler Jackson Williams gives a strong performance plus the rest of the cast do a great job as well (always great seeing Uma Thurman). A lot of the Disney channel original movie feel from the first movie is gone in this movie, sure there’s a few moments that do feel like it but those are very far and few in between. Once again Vanderhaal sings beautiful and truly shows her talent with her powerful singing voice, the story is charming and actually pretty relaxing as well. It’s a sweet little movie that knows what it wants to be, it’s a very likable movie that has a wonderful cast and a lot of strong writing bits that work quite well. Overall Hollywood Stargirl might not have too much meat on it’s bones, but it’s enough to bring interest from the viewer and entertain an audience with some great acting, music and writing.
A ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope as they try to get back behind the counter.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie is based on the animated tv series of the same name, I’ll start out by saying Bob’s Burgers is the only animated adult tv show that is currently still airing that I actually care for. There’s already been big discussions of why a lot of the shows in the genre have dropped massively in quality such as The Simpsons and Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers however has managed to stay consistent and actually be really strong. Granted I haven’t seen every single episode of Bob’s Burgers but I have seen enough to say that I quite like the series, so I was pretty excited to hear that a movie was being released. Luckily The Bob’s Burger Movie does not disappoint and is what you expect, the film has a lot of the same humor and style that both blend so well together. Not every single joke is a hit but the charm mainly comes from the characters who are truly well written, the musical segments are quite fantastic and are genuinely hilarious as well. One main fear I did have with the movie going in was I was worried it was going to feel like an extended tv episode, and while sometimes it does feel like that mainly due to the many plots. For the most part it feels very cinematic mainly due to the animation having a more clean look to it and the energy of the film being very energized, the voice acting like the show is really strong one of the key aspects that make Bob’s Burgers so great is how well the cast blends together and that is displayed here quite well! Overall there might not be much to The Bob’s Burgers movie however it’s still a very entertaining ride from beginning to end, fans will most definitely love this one and the film is pretty accessible to people who haven’t seen the show!
The Bob’s Burgers Movie releases in theaters on Friday!
