Supercell is a tornado movie not worth chasing.

In order to follow the footsteps of his father who was a legendary storm chaser, a teenage boy leaves his mother and runs away from his home.

Tornado movies are a sub genre you likely don’t come across very often, that is if you mainly stick with theater released ones. Twister is by far the most popular of the bunch and there’s also Into The Storm that I remember quite well. But if you explore the straight to VOD section well enough you will find a lot of tornado movies.

Enter Supercell which is pretty much the exact same idea as Twister, a bunch of people want to capture the excitement and thrill of Tornado watching. The problem is the movie itself does not have the excitement or thrill at all, which to be absolutely fair is a very common problem within this genre.

The acting is tolerable Skeet Ulrich, Anne Heche and Alec Baldwin do fine enough and there’s a few decent shots here and there. The problem mostly comes in with the movie being nothing more but a worse version of Twister, it’s not as exciting as Twister was or it’s not so bad it’s fun like Into The Storm was. It’s just a very dull and forgettable straight to VOD tornado movie.

Supercell is available on all VOD platforms.
