A quiet drifter is tricked into a janitorial job at the now condemned Wally’s Wonderland. The mundane tasks suddenly become an all-out fight for survival against wave after wave of demonic animatronics. Fists fly, kicks land, titans clash — and only one side will make it out alive.
Willy’s Wonderland has been on my radar for some time now, so when I heard it got a February 2021 release date I was very excited! Willy’s Wonderland is exactly what I expected and I couldn’t be more happy, Nicholas Cage doesn’t actually talk in this film, which you would think would not be a good idea that could prevent him from giving a lot of the over the top performances we all know and love. However he still manages to play an absolute hilarious and quite fantastic role as well, there’s some incredibly badass fight scenes between Cage and the animatronics. Really incredible kills as well that are actually quite well done as well, I also do like Emily Tosta and Caylee Cowan as well! I can definitely see the both of them going on to be in several other horror movies. Willy’s Wonderland is also Incredibly silly which is expected, it’s a whole lot of fun and knows what it’s set out to do. The animatronics designs I actually thought were pretty interesting as well, sure they may not be unique but it was trying to capture the 80s/90s when these things were popular. So they did a pretty great job with that. Willy’s Wonderland is overall a very straightforward slasher film that’s quite solid, there are some areas that could have been better (mostly the first act) I highly recommend giving this one a watch!
After unearthing a gem that controls an evil monster looking to destroy the Universe, a young girl and her brother use it to make him do their bidding.
Steven Kostanski is quickly becoming a director to look out for, I really loved The Void and I thought Leprechaun Returns was a solid comeback for an overall bad franchise. Psycho Goreman takes elements from The Void and does something a lot different, imagine a Power Rangers like show but with gore and a monster as the main character….you have Psycho Goreman! It strangely works as well, there’s a lot to praise about the film! First off the designs of the monsters and the gore is incredible, it really brings you back to the 80s and it’s very much appreciated. They have great detail and the designs of the characters help describe them as well, the story is simplistic and goes toward the “what the hell am I watching?” route but in a good way, the film itself feels like a Saturday morning cartoon but in the best way possible. Matthew Ninaber does the voice for Psycho Goreman and he does a fantastic job, his voice combined with the character give really great results. The major flaw I do have with this movie is Mimi played by Nita-Josee Hanna she’s a truly annoying character and the lines given to her are just not that great. I get what the film was going for however since it does feel like a Saturday morning cartoon I’m guessing they were trying to go for having an annoying character like a lot of cartoons are meant to have. But that really does not translate well into live action, that’s only my guess of what I think they were trying to do but either way the character really does hold back the movie. The humor is also a hit or miss at times the movie is genuinely funny with some clever jokes and then other parts the jokes really don’t land quite as well. But overall Psycho Goreman is some of the most fun I’ve had with a film so far this year, it does have it’s flaws that do hold it back at times. But the film is definitely something I recommend checking out especially if you are looking for something really fun to watch.
Bodies start to pile up when a drug-user nurse and her cousin try to find a replacement kidney for an organ trafficker.
12 Hour Shift I actually thought looked sort of decent from the trailers and it had some potential…unfortunately it’s not that great, 12 Hour Shift started out pretty okay but quickly went downhill. First off none of the characters are likable at all, which isn’t necessarily a flaw but how the movie goes about it is just sloppy. It’s almost like two completely different people made this movie and had no idea what to do with it, the movie also got really mean spirited out of nowhere, I’m not even 100% sure what they were trying to go for. There is some comedy thrown in but none of it is really funny or clever at all, what really saves this movie is mostly the acting and some of the filming, as much as I don’t like the characters I can’t deny that the cast actually did the best they could with a very unimaginative script. Overall I can definitely see why one would like 12 Hour Shift, but it just wasn’t for me at all. If it sounds like something that would interest you, by all means check it out. I also don’t think it’s a terrible movie, I just think it’s a movie that just didn’t come together at the end.
During a power outage, two strangers tell scary stories. The more Fred and Fanny commit to their tales, the more the stories come to life in their Catskills cabin. The horrors of reality manifest when Fred confronts his ultimate fear.
Scare Me is quite different which is very refreshing to see, there’s a lot in Scare Me that works really well! The biggest thing being the small cast, Aya Cash, Chris Redd and Josh Ruben all do a really solid job Aya Cash being the standout. Scare Me has some genuinely good humor that I found myself laughing a few times, as for the premise I thought it was done pretty well! My biggest issue however is it does lose steam towards the end, as it goes on the movie kind of just gets weaker and weaker. That’s mostly due to the premise itself kind of getting tired by the end. The writing is for the most part pretty good, but it does have it’s problems especially when it’s trying to be hip it comes off as trying to hard. I thought the characters were pretty well done again Aya Cash being the best, Scare Me is one of those movies your either going to like or hate. I recommend giving this one a look especially since it is something much different.
A battle-hardened mercenary leads a team of soldiers on a daring mission to rescue hostages in remote Africa.
Does M.J. Bassett have a talent of being a garbage director? Because my god Rogue shows more of it, if you don’t know who Bassett is she is the director behind Silent Hill Revelations. Anyway Rogue has one good thing about it…and that’s Megan Fox who definitely tries her hardest with this movie, otherwise this movie is a complete and utter trainwreck. The writing is bottom of the barrel, for whatever reason some of the characters start singing “Everybody” by The Backstreet Boys and it’s not even a one time joke they do this FOUR TIMES! If it were just a one off joke maybe I could understand but four times really shows the writers had no idea what they were doing. The CGI Lions are terrible, they feel like something straight out of a SyFy channel movie. The characters are given absolutely no character development their personalities come down to their race or looks, which that in itself is pretty problematic. This really shows the writers had no ideas, no inspiration and just did not give a crap about this movie at the slightest. When a character’s personality only comes down to their race it shows the writers have no idea how to build a character and just don’t have any creative ideas. It shows that they only know how to make stereotypes and that’s it which if you ask me is embarrassing. As for the rest of the movie it’s just ugly to look at and the overall movie is not fun at the slightest and then suddenly at the end there is this “save the lions” message which is laughable because you just showed lions killing the characters and now you want to shove a message at the end of the movie? Overall Rogue is one of the worst things I’ve seen this year, if it weren’t for Megan Fox this would have easily gotten my lowest rating…avoid this one.

A pair of comic book writers begin to notice scary similarities between the character they created and horrific real-life events.
This is the type of movie where they definitely had the right idea but couldn’t make it interesting. The movie is definitely not all bad, the performances for the most part are fine enough, there’s some decent camerawork and the kills are actually pretty well done. The main setback is the writing, it really feels like they threw way too many ideas into this movie and forgot scrap a large portion of the filler. Plus there really isn’t anything noteworthy in this movie that makes it standout, it’s an okay movie if you are looking to kill some time. Otherwise it’s really not worth it.
5/10 C
An anarchic, hip-hop inspired comedy that follows four city boys on a wilderness trek as they try to escape a mysterious huntsman.
Yeah Get Duked really did not do it for me, I completely understand why one would enjoy this movie, heck I wouldn’t say it’s all bad. The performances are actually decent and there’s a few jokes in there that do hit. My major problem with this movie however is most of the humor, if you don’t find the humor funny you are not going to like this movie. A lot of it just really feels try hard at times and comes off as forced. The plot is very similar to The Hunt which came out earlier this year. But this movie does do it’s premise a bit better, my other main issue is the characters are just not likable at all. I really did not care for anyone in the movie at all…it’s a shame because I do feel like this could have been good if it was fixed up a bit.
Lucy (Demi Moore) is the egotistical megalomaniac CEO of Incredible Edibles, America’s premier provider of edible cutlery. In her infinite wisdom, Lucy leads her staff including her long-suffering assistants, Freddie (Karan Soni) and Jess (Jessica Williams), on a corporate team-building caving weekend to New Mexico. When disaster strikes, not even their useless guide, Brandon (Ed Helms), can save them. Trapped underground by a cave-in, this mismatched and disgruntled group must pull together in order to survive. The fact this came from Patrick Kack Brice who directed Creep and Creep 2 is unbelievable, because this is the complete opposite of what those two films were. Corporate Animals has a fine enough set up and actually has a few okay jokes at the start but as the movie goes on…it starts to feel like a parody movie and a terrible one. There’s a few okay performances here Jessica Williams is pretty okay, Karan Soni is by far the best in the movie and Demi Moore is enjoyable. The writing could have a been a lot stronger, when the movie reaches the middle of the movie it pretty much gives up scenes that are unnecessary, terrible jokes, a painful third act that feels worthless. It doesn’t help the movie is very predicatable as well, if you have seen any of these survival movies you know exactly what’s going to happen, also the blending between horror and comedy is dreadful, the movie is definitely more of a comedy which is fine but as I said before it’s not very funny. They even resorted to make some cannibalism jokes, which fall flat because how painfully predictable the jokes are. Overall Corporate Animals is a mess of a film, If you are looking for something that’s so bad it’s funny then you will probably like this just fine. Otherwise I recommend giving this one a pass. 3/10 D-
