Loki (2021) Series Review!

Loki, the God of Mischief, steps out of his brother’s shadow to embark on an adventure that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Loki is the third of the MCU shows on Disney+ and it’s hands down the best one yet, it took me awhile to finally sit down and actually come up with a review for this show due to figuring out what I ultimately felt about this series. Let’s start with the performances which I thought were all really strong, Tom Hiddleston once again does a fantastic job as Loki and arguably the best he’s played Loki in the MCU so far. I personally thought he was on a whole other level here, it’s possibly due to the script that gives Hiddleston a lot to work with and turn much as he can into something truly interesting. Hiddleston’s chemistry with Owen Wilson in particular was a standout whenever the two were on screen together there was bound for jokes that were actually quite great, some interesting back and forth dialogue and some character moments. Speaking of which Owen Wilson does quite a great job here, I’ve always liked Wilson being in more dramatic roles, what’s interesting in this case is how the balance of comedy and drama really works. One doesn’t over due the other both blend very well together and this is the type of series it really works, finally there’s Sophia Di Martino who does quite a fantastic job I’m very excited to see what they do with her character as the MCU goes forward (as well as Season 2 of Loki). She really brings a lot to the show and her chemistry with Hiddleston is top notch, each of the episodes felt different and unique to one another. I will admit the series did take a bit to get going towards the beginning but once it got off the ground it stayed in the sky, the final two episodes in particular are some of the highlights. Everything that it’s been building up to starts to happen and then we finally get to the final minutes of the last episode…which is easily some of the best the MCU has ever done. It has a huge reveal and a “oh crap!” moment that really shows that phase 4 of the MCU has just begun. Loki is what is going to cause some movies that are coming out soon or next year to take place. It’s truly an effective moment that really changes everything. Overall the series itself is quite fantastic, this is definitely something to go into without knowing too much, it’s definitely one of the most interesting parts of the MCU so far!

All the episodes of Loki are now available on Disney+

Black Widow (2021) Movie Review!

Natasha Romanoff confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises.

A Black Widow solo movie was an obvious choice to happen at some point….it’s too bad it happened way too late. With that said Black Widow is one of those MCU movies where I lost interest for quite some time until maybe a couple weeks before it’s release when I became interested. Black Widow unfortunately does very little to change up anything in the MCU, I’ll start with what I really liked because I certainly don’t think this is a bad movie by any means. The opening I thought was actually pretty well done combined with the cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit (which was actually used in the trailer for The Gallows) was pretty great and a very dark atmosphere to it….it’s just a huge shame the rest of the movie couldn’t live up to that. Florence Pugh gives a fantastic performance and is the reason why I would say to check it out if you want. She has so much power in her role and really delivers whenever she’s on screen, she continues to show why she’s one of the best actresses working today. I will give Black Widow this it definitely makes me excited to see Florence Pugh’s future in the MCU. Finally there’s a few action scenes which I liked nothing mind blowing but a lot of fun and then the end credit scene which I won’t spoil but I found it interesting. Now on to the problems I had with Black Widow, for starters the movie itself felt like it was playing way too safe to the point where it starts to dip into below average territory. The pacing was dreadful combine that with the running time that goes by painstakingly slow and it becomes a very uninteresting movie. The writing while it does have it’s moments is really nothing special at all, the biggest problem however is with the villain “Taskmaster” which is another case of the MCU taking a fantastic villain that has so much potential and completely failing. The only way I’m going to be able to talk about this is if I give some slight spoilers so skip if you haven’t seen it! Anyway the reveal of Taskmaster is completely ridiculous it’s a character who had a total of 3 lines in the entire movie, I am all for changing the character however said character must have actual development and build up which isn’t what happened here. It’s the equivalent of Roy Burns being reveled as the killer in Friday The 13th: A New Beginning a character who had a total of one scene (as far as I remember). So seeing this happen in Black Widow is very baffling to be quite honest, finally there’s the rest of the cast which all do a fair job but nothing absolutely spectacular Rachel Weisz I will say other than Florence Pugh is another standout! Overall Black Widow is one of the movies in the MCU that really could have been more, however they went with the safest option. Being safe is not always a bad thing and I get the MCU is going to have it’s not so good movies like any other franchise. However by the end Black Widow only leaves you with being excited for Florence Pugh and not much else.

Black Widow is now in theaters and on Disney Plus Premier Access!

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier (2021) Series Review!

Following the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ Sam Wilson/Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities and their patience.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the second MCU Disney Plus series releasing almost right after WandaVision. TFATWS wasn’t one of the series I was incredibly excited for, but the end result I have to say isn’t too bad at all. First a bit about the characters, easily the two show stealers are Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) both have incredible chemistry between one another, both Mackie and Stan have a bunch of incredible moments and show how talented they both are as actors. The series does a fantastic job of exploring both their characters and giving them a lot of development, by the end of the series you feel Anthony Mackie’s journey is complete when it comes to taking the mantle as Captain America! As for the everyone else there’s a few noteworthy performances such as Daniel Brühl as Zemo who is easily one of the best parts in a few of the episodes (I’ll get more into each episode in a bit), Wyatt Russell as John Walker who absolutely delivers in episode 4 In particular, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Erin Kellyman as Karli Morgenthau who I don’t think is exactly the best MCU villain but due to Kellyman’s performance she really makes it work and she certainly isn’t bad. She gets more development as the series progress, now let’s talk a little about each episode and how they are and then I’ll wrap this up with a conclusion. The first episode is what you would expect a nice introduction that opens with a pretty neat action scene and gives a basic introduction of what to expect, Sam Wilson’s journey and much more. It’s not anything too crazy but that’s to be expected. Unfortunately episodes 2 and 3 are what puts the series to a complete halt, while there are some positives about the episodes (Zemmo being the best part of episode 3), some action scenes and of course Mackie and Stan’s performances. The rest of episodes 2 and 3 just really do not do much and are just not that interesting, both episodes have nowhere near as many character moments as the rest of the series which is very unfortunate. However that all changes with episode four which is hands down my absolute favorite of the series, it opens up with a very powerful character moment for Bucky and really shows how incredible Sebastian Stan is as an actor. it’s some of the darkest material the MCU has ever done and it was done really well, the atmosphere is thrilling, the writing is incredibly well done and Wyatt Russell as I said before does such a fantastic job in this episode. You really start to see a lot of his character and how he’s a ticking time bomb, which is probably what I would describe this episode as a ticking time bomb! Episode 5 is a wonderful lead up to the final episode, it heavily focuses on a ton of character moments especially for Sam Wilson and his journey to become Captain America. It’s a long episode but an incredibly well written and directed episode that’s a huge highlight of the series. Finally there’s episode 6 which is pretty solid, I don’t think it’s as strong as episode 4 or 5 but it does deliver when it comes to action, finally seeing Sam Wilson as Captain America, tackling a few themes and much more. It heavily sets up for Captain America 4 (which was just announced) and what I can assume a season 2 of the show. Episode 6 did everything it was sent out to do I just wish it could have been a tad longer. Overall the series is solid, it has it’s rough spots that some MCU movies suffer from but when the series gets good it gets really good. There’s so much to love about it and it’s mainly due to Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan plus the growth of their characters that make this series worth it!

WandaVision (2021) Series Review!

Wanda Maximoff and Vision – two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives – begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

WandaVision is the start of Phase 4 of the MCU and it’s a pretty strong start! Going into the series I was pretty excited for it Wanda has always been one of my favorite characters of the MCU so I was very happy to see a show that was going to be centered around her. Elizabeth Olsen completely slays it in her performance here, so much so that I predict she could possibly get nominated for an Emmy she does such an incredible job and truly is Wanda Maximoff. The same can be said for Paul Bettany as Vision he does a magnificent job and really brings out his talent, the chemistry between Olsen and Bettany is terrific and this is the best showcase of it. This series really does a fantastic job of making you care about the two and their chemistry between one another. Other performances such as Kathryn Hahn and Teyonah Parris both do a very solid job in their roles! The writing got better and better as the series went forward, some of the jokes from the first few episodes were definitely a hit or miss some jokes I laughed at and others whatever. I will give WandaVision credit that it did not resort to the bad Marvel humor that’s present in some of the films (Doctor Strange, Thor The Dark World and a few others) as the series reached its end the writing gave us tons of character development for many of the characters and gave us a very solid villain… Agatha Harkness, one of the things going into WandaVision I was a bit concerned about was if the villain was going to be good. But they really hit it out of the park Agatha is a very solid villain that is a lot of fun, she might not be in the ranks of Loki, Ego and a few others, but she is very close. Her backstory is interesting and her motivations make sense! Hayward is not even worth mentioning to be quite honest, Josh Stamberg does a fine job in the role but Tyler Hayward just feels like the equivalent of a henchmen from one of the non canon Dragon Ball Z movies. He’s a very flat character with little to no personality who half the time I forgot existed. One major issue I did have with the finale is what they did with Monica Rambeau they really could have done something so much better with her character and it felt like they were building up to something to do with her character. However that doesn’t stop the finale from being a very solid ending! Overall WandaVision is really great, it’s refreshing to see the MCU do something different and it’s a very solid start to Phase 4!

Spider-Man Far From Home

Following the events of Avengers Endgame (2019), Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever. I thought long and hard about this one (which is why it took me a few days to review it) but I feel confident in saying that this is one of the best films the MCU has to offer, as usual this is a NO SPOILER REVIEW so enjoy! So for starters let’s talk about characters, I feel like they did a much better job this time around. A lot of the characters in Homecoming while I did find some of them charming I didn’t find myself absolutely loving them or caring about them (besides Spider-Man course) but in this movie they heavily improved on that. They gave a lot of the characters like Ned and MJ a lot more spotlight and more time for the audience to care about the both of them. Now let’s talk about the villian, before seeing this movie I was very worried that they weren’t going to do Mysterio justice. He’s a very hard villian to get right and it would take a lot of effort to perfect it. I do love being proved wrong because they did a fantastic job with the character, casting Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio was a really smart move he really brought everything he had to the character and it was satisfying to watch. He had a lot of character development, he had a great motive and the quiet scenes with him are where a lot of great character development moments shine. The writing is some of the best of the MCU this is another movie that knows how to balance comedy and serious moments, plus the jokes are genuinely funny as well! I found myself laughing quite often it really reminded me of the first two Sam Rami Spider-Man movies they both had their humor and also serious moments. In fact a lot of this movie reminded me a lot of the first two Sam Rami films (which are some of my favorite films of all time) it really felt like was watching those films again which is something I’ve been waiting for a long time. Tom Holland improves even more as Spider-Man and really shows how much effort he puts into his role, the character development scenes with him are also fantastic. They really dive into his character and really bring out so much character, the action scenes are really well done, the direction is spot! Overall Spider-Man Far From Home is fantastic, it’s everything you want in a Spider-Man film it’s humorous, it has a ton of character development, it has tons of serious moments and it’s beautiful start to the new era of the MCU give this film a watch!!

Marvel Phase Three Movies Ranked from Worst To Best

I will never understand how anyone considers this to be a very good movie in the MCU, I’m sorry but this movie doesn’t do anything new other then have some really “trippy” special effects. Everything else is just incredibly bland and uninteresting. Benedict Cumberbatch definitely tries his best but good god the humor completely ruins the film, again it’s that terrible Marvel humor but in this case I believe is one of the worst cases of it. I didn’t laugh once and none of it was even close to being funny, the villian is also debatably the worst villian of the MCU he’s taken out very easily, he has next to no character development and he’s just overall not an interesting villain. I wanted to like this movie too which is the sad thing but unfortunately it’s just a complete and total mess.
3/10 D-
I’m keeping this short because I’m not wasting my time and energy on this one, this one just doesn’t hold up on a rewatch. The movie isn’t funny, Ghost is a complete missed opportunity, the character development is piss poor. The saving grace is some of the action scenes, also this has to be one of the most forgettable MCU movies to date. If you liked it cool I can definitely understand why, however this movie just didn’t do it for me.
3/10 D-
Sometimes when it comes to film you want to be proved wrong, when you see a trailer for a movie that just doesn’t look good but you really want to be proved wrong because at the same time the movie could have some high potential….sadly this isn’t the movie. This is definitely one of the weakest movies in the MCU In awhile, the movie is a huge step down from the last couple movies in almost every single way. I’ll start with what I liked….well I liked the Stan Lee tribute, the two end credit scenes, Goose the Cat (who’s seriously the best actor in the movie),  some parts of the third act and I did think Brie Larson and Samuel L Jackson tried their best with a terrible script. Everything else about the movie was a complete and total mess, I understand what they were trying to do with the story but good lord was the execution not well done. It felt like the writers had a very short time limit and just threw random ideas in the movie and just went with it, the movie is also very predictable..the twist has been done before in other movies and it’s been done far better as well. As I said earlier the writing was terrible, again this movie brings back that terrible Marvel humor that is just so painful to listen to and it’s clearly trying desperately to get a laugh. Sure there were some moments that were actually funny but nothing flat out hilarious. The characters unfortunately are just not good this time around, Nick Fury is always great to see he was at his best with scenes with Goose The Cat. Captain Marvel or Carol is unfortunately not a well developed or interesting character, which I partly saw coming. The problem with Captain Marvel is she is basically Marvel’s Superman where she is practically invincible, she comes off bland and feels like a Mary Sue for most of the movie. Which is a huge problem because then that shows the character has no flaws at all and can’t be relatable. Look at Batman or Spider-Man they have their weaknesses and flaws which is part of the reason why they are such great characters. Captain Marvel on the other hand is just not an interesting character, now I’m not saying that all characters who are overpowered are bland. Because that’s not true some other characters actually have a backstory and still manage to have weaknesses. That just doesn’t seem to be the case here, anyway the villains of this movie were some of the worst that has ever come out of the MCU. They are extremely forgettable, not well written and not interesting. Overall Captain Marvel is a huge mess, there are some parts to be enjoyed as I said before. But this seriously could have been a lot better..

4/10 D+
I’ll keep this very short, while it’s not the masterpiece everyone makes it out to be, the movie is still one of the strongest in the MCU. It’s miles better than the first two Thor movies, the movie is vastly different due to Waititi’s direction which gives the movie life. The acting is generally pretty good, the movie does have some genuinely good humor in it, the inclusion of The Hulk was actually really great. Hela was actually a pretty solid villian I wouldn’t say as good as Thanos, Killmonger or Ego but she’s still a pretty well done villian. The movie does have it’s issues with some of the humor completely missing and the pacing did feel very weird at times. But as I said still a strong movie…but people really need to chill out with calling this movie a masterpiece.

8/10 B+
I’ll keep this short
Chadwick Boseman is absolutely fantastic here, he does a great job in his role. Same can be said for the rest of the cast as well as Michael B. Jordan. Killmonger is also one of the few really great villains from the MCU, he actually has a motivation and actually does get character development. The world building is also fantastic and actually quite beautiful, the only knocks I have against this movie is as I said in my first review….the “WHAT ARE THOSE??” Joke which comes right out of nowhere for no reason. And some very minor script issues that aren’t really that important, it’s not the masterpiece everyone says it is but it’s for sure one of the best of the MCU

8/10 B+
People are always going to have their favorite Spider-Man movie, some people say Spider -Verse is the best Spider-Man movie, some people say one of the first two Sam Rami movies are the best ones (I personally think Spider-Man 2 is the best) and then some people say Homecoming is the best one. This was another movie I was worried about revisiting mostly because I was worried it was not going to hold up at all, but it does hold up well. Tom Holand does a fantastic job in his role, the movie has some pretty good humor and this movie is another one in the MCU that actually has a very good villain. The Vulture’s Design was actually really well done some people have complained that it didn’t match the comics but think about it. It would come off WAY too cartoony if they went with the comic, besides all they did was just give him a mask. I still do have the same issues I did with the movie the first time around, Liz wasn’t a very interesting character, Iron Man being included overshadowed Spider-Man at times and some of the humor was a miss. But it is overall a very strong movie in the MCU.

8/10 B+
I will admit I do think I’ve been a little hard on this movie in the past, the movie is definitely much better from what I remembered. Spider-Man and the airport scene are the show stealers however, the airport scene is one hell of an action scene and is very memorable. The action is incredibly well done and really shows off all the characters at their finest. I will say this movie does take awhile to get going, it’s very slow at times and sometimes it does feel frustrating. However once it does get going it quickly gets really interesting and pretty well done, the acting is overall generally good and the writing this time around is pretty darn great. Overall there really isn’t much else to say about this one, I still don’t find this movie to be top 3 tier MCU movies like a lot of people do but it’s a very good movie that I’ll gladly rewatch in the future.

8/10 B+
I will say that this is one of the darkest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it does have some jokes in it but unlike some of the other Marvel movies the jokes are far and few in between and they actually make sense. Thanos is single handily one of the best villains in awhile and hands down the best of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thanos wasn’t one of those villains that’s just evil for the sake of being evil or just wants to rule the word, he wants more then that! Plus it’s really refreshing to see a villain that has a personality, most villains (not only in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) tend to be one dimensional characters that are flat out uninteresting. Josh Brolin kills it as Thanos, he fits as Thanos and I honestly think nobody else could have done as good as Josh Brolin did! The acting and writing are very well done, there’s a lot of scenes that are actually pretty powerful and surprisingly some quiet moments. Which I say surprisingly because Marvel does not typically do a lot of quiet moments (I mean sure there might be some but none of them compare to the ones in this movie), the action scenes were really well shot and perhaps some of the best the Marvel Cinematic Universe has to offer. But the thing that I mostly liked about this movie was the fact Marvel did not hold back at all, in a lot of the movies you can definitely tell Marvel holds back. With this one however they really deliver and show they mean business! Overall Avengers Infinity War is a huge crowning achievement, a series of movies that have been going on for ten years leads to this big moment and they 100%. nailed it. I highly recommend to go see this movie, it’s one hell of a ride from beginning to end!

In My All Time Favorites A+
Just when you think it can’t get even better, when I saw this movie when it first came out I was seriously amazed. Mostly because of how emotional it was, I was seriously not expecting it all. Something I did mention in my original review was that one of the most unexpected things that was in this movie was that it was a character study film. I still stand by what I said, there is so much character development in this film it feels like everyone is given time to shine which is something I really do appreciate. This movie also has one of the best villains of the MCU, Ego is something that the MCU needed for a very long time and it finally got it. Ego gets some really good character development and is actually very interesting as well. The movie also does have a ton of emotional moments (particularly the ending where I did start shedding a few tears even on this rewatch) they are so well done mostly because of how well the character development is. I seriously don’t know what else to say about this one, it’s quite honestly one of my favorite comic book movies period and hands down my favorite of the MCU so far!!

Marvel Movies Phase Two ranked from worst to best

I’ll keep this short, the movie is terrible…it makes the first Thor seem like a masterpiece, my main issue with this movie was again like the first movie it seemed like they still had no idea what they wanted to do with Thor yet. The villian is one of if not the worst of the MCU, he gets taken out very easily and he’s just not an interesting villian at all. He also has next to no character development at all. This is one of the movies in the MCU that has way too much of that awful Marvel humor and it really does effect this movie big time, I really don’t have anything else to say a lot of people consider this to be the worst of the MCU for a reason.

2/10 F
This was another one I was very afraid of revisiting, I remember seeing it in theaters and absolutely loving it and then I saw it at home and thought it was nowhere near as good. I do like it a little better this time, but this was such a step down from the first film. What really ruined this movie for me was the humor, once again it’s another movie afffected with that awful Marvel humor, to be fair there were a few moments that I did laugh at. But for the most part it really didn’t work for me. What I did like however was the action scenes, the acting for the most part and the introduction to Scarlet Witch and Vision, Ultron as a villian wasn’t terrible I must say. He definitely had his moments that were great, but then he also had his moments that were not so great. I respect what they were trying to do with his character but I’m not exactly sure if it worked, his character development was definitely present but it really could have used some more work. The movie is fun for what it is but don’t expect it being something as great as the two guardians of the galaxy movies, Iron Man and a few others.

6/10 C+
Didn’t actually mind this one too much, Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Michael Pena make this movie. The humor is genuinely pretty funny with some jokes that I thought were actually clever. The action scenes are very well done, with some very creative cinematography that’s actually quite beautiful to look at. The two biggest knocks against this movie is the villian and how basic parts of the movie is, the movie does feel formulaic at times which is probably to be expected so I can’t really complain too much. However the villian is just painfully uninteresting, it’s another one of those power hungry villains that wants technology. I will admit the idea of Yellow Jacket is fine enough but he just comes off as painfully uninteresting and really not well developed at all. But really besides that I actually enjoyed this one and it’s a solid movie for what it is.
7/10 B
First movie of Phase II in the MCU, I was very worried about revisiting this one. I saw this two times in theaters back when it first came out and then I saw it again a few years later and remembering not really enjoying it that much. But luckily I actually quite liked it, yes the movie has a ton of flaws which I will go ahead and get out of the way. The writing can be very shaky at times, the writing does offer some really great character development for Tony Stark but at the same time there are a ton of stupid moments. Such as the whole Mandarin reveal which was incredibly stupid I will say, plus the villain once again was a power hungry asshole only this time he wanted Pepper. Plus even the concept of the villain isn’t really great either he’s just some regular guy who shoots fire. Not to mention the character development for him is not great at all, with that said there are a ton of good things such as the action scenes, most of the acting and some actual character development for some of the characters. This was a huge step up from Iron Man 2, this movie may not be up there with Gurdians of the galaxy 1 or 2, Infinity war or the first iron man. But it still has a lot to like about it.
7/10 B
Going back into this movie I was very worried I was not going to like it very much at all, thank god that was proven wrong because this movie still kicks ass. Talk about an improvement over the last Captain America movie, this movie not only explores Captain America in a much better detail but it actually takes risks and does have pretty spectacular hand to hand combat. Which is quite honestly some of the best in the MCU, this is also probably the best use of Sam Wilson in the MCU by far. And at the time this was definitely a better use of Black Widow as opposed to Iron Man 2, the cinematography is spectacular and really does get you into the movie. The movie also goes for this political thriller aspect which I definitely think was needed in the MCU especially at the time. Rewatching this movie I can easily understand why a lot of people consider this to be one of the best if not THE best of the MCU.

10/10 A+
What can I really say? This is still one of my absolute favorites of the MCU, I remember back in 2014 when this came out a lot of people were expecting this not to be very good. However this movie really changed so much when it comes to comic book movies, it has so much in it…incredible acting, a very hilarious script, really strong characters, very strong character development. Also I don’t think people don’t give the finishing move to Ronan the Accuser enough credit, it was such a badass move and you really feel that final attack that finishes him off. I definitely agree he wasn’t the best villian but the movie was going for a more comedic tone which is definitely more fun than someone like Whiplash from Iron Man 2. It’s a beautiful film from beginning to end and seriously one of the greatest the MCU has ever done.

Marvel Phase One Movies Ranked from Worst to Best.

The direct opposite of the first movie, going into this movie again I was hoping that maybe this wouldn’t be as bad as I remembered, somehow it’s worse than I remembered. Robert Downey Jr is the only thing about this movie that is worth watching, everything else just feels like a huge downgrade from the first movie. Whiplash is an incredibly bad villian, not only is he way too over the top but he’s just not an interesting villain. Mostly due to how poorly developed he is, Black Widow feels very poorly introduced is a huge a shame. I have nothing else to really say about this one…
2/10 F
This is one of the movies of the MCU I was dreading to revisit and I still feel have the same feeling after watching it. The acting in general isn’t too bad especially from Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, again the Stan Lee cameo was pretty great and I guess I did like the action scene between Thor and The Destroyer. But everything else really felt not that great, a lot of the characters in this movie were just not very well developed like at all, especially King Laufey who would have been an actual okay villian if he had much more development. The humor in this movie for me really doesn’t work that well, sure there’s a few laughs to be had but otherwise it’s just not that funny. I think the major problem is the movie felt way too long and it felt like they had no idea what to do with Thor at the time which I guess is understandable since it was very early in the MCU. Overall I know a lot of people that like this one just fine and I’m glad, however this one really did not do much for me.

4/10 D+
There’s absolutely no denying that this movie is very important to the franchise, however when you take away all of that it’s nothing more then just a very bland comic book movie. Chris Evans tried his very best with a script that wasn’t exactly interesting at all, the filming was also pretty decent but that’s where it really ends for me. The movie has very bad pacing that takes forever to get going, Red Skull is completely wasted and feels way too over the top. Red Skull is also lacking in the character development department, the acting from everyone else ranged from bad to below average, it was a very dumb decision to have Joe Johnston direct this…

4/10 D+
This is one of the movies in the MCU I remembered nothing about at all, all that I remembered was that it was very generic and that was exactly it. The two things this movie has going for it is the Stan Lee cameo (which I found hilarious) and the final act. If the whole movie was what the final act was this could have actually been a decent movie. This is yet another movie in the MCU that takes way too long to get going, the romance feels very cheesy between Edward Norton and Liv Tyler, both are passable in this movie but they are nothing memorable at all. Speaking of which Edward Norton does an okay job as The Hulk but he is no Mark Ruffalo, you can easily see why many people consider Mark Ruffalo the actual Hulk and not Norton. As far as villains go Tim Roth plays Abomination which does lead to a very entertaining battle with The Hulk, however the character development just isn’t there at all. Tim Roth’s character came off as a typical power hungry asshole who wanted to be like The Hulk and that’s it. Overall it’s not as bad as I remember it being but like I said before it’s very generic, it hasn’t aged very well at all and it’s just one of those MCU movies a lot of people forget and rightfully so.

5/10 C
Not going to comment much on this one because it really speaks for itself, this is easily one of the better movies of the MCU. This is a movie that could have easily been terrible but luckily the direction, acting and writing were all there to give this movie a great advantage. The movie still holds up really well and all of the characters are great here, Loki is a very solid villain and there’s tons of memorable scenes as well. This is rightfully one of the most memorable movies of the MCU

Easily one of the best of the MCU, it’s fantastic movie that still holds up to this very day. Robert Downey Jr is fantastic here, the origin story is very well done, the writing is spot on and the movie has some incredibly done action scenes. What else can be said?
