Lord of The Rings and Hobbit Movies Ranked From Worst To Best

It’s no wonder I completely forgot about this movie, it’s a very weak ending to a very average trilogy. Only that this time around there aren’t as many redeeming qualities there were in the other two movies, I’ll give the movie this the last act once again was pretty decent, it wrapped things up pretty okay and did it’s job (for the most part) however the first two acts of the movie were a complete and total mess, you would think that this giant battle would be something incredible especially from what The Lord Of The Rings movies have given us. But it feels so weak and really messy, a lot of the character deaths I just didn’t care for which is a huge problem and one of the main reasons why this trilogy just didn’t work. Character was one of the most important things about The Lord Of The Rings movies, this trilogy had very few characters that were actually interesting. Smaug also feels completely pointless here which is a huge shame. It doesn’t help that this movie feels very identical to the other two movies which becomes a huge problem. Overall Battle Of Five Armies is the weakest of The Hobbit trilogy and a very weak movie to end on.

Let me make one thing clear, I don’t hate this movie. I liked it a bit better this time around but it’s nowhere near as good as the Lord Of The Ring movies. I can easily understand why some people don’t like it, the tone is childish at times which is a huge let down. I will say the best parts about the movie is definitely the cinematography, Martin Freeman, Richard Amritage, Ian McKellen and Andy Serkis. The final act is also pretty solid that really does deliver when it comes to the action scenes, I think my biggest problem with this movie as well as many other people’s biggest problem is the characters. Outside Bilbo Baggins, Thorin, Gandalf and Gollum (he honestly shouldn’t count because he’s not in the for THAT long but it is one of the best scenes of the movie so that’s at least great.) the other characters are just not interesting at all mainly because they really don’t get much development, it’s one of those cases where a movie tries to add so many characters but completely forgets to actually use them. It’s also nice to hear some of the beautiful music as well which really does well in the third act. It’s just sort of a shame that this movie is a huge mixed bag, the movie also takes awhile to get going, which really does end up hurting the movie in the long run. Overall it’s not a bad movie, it’s just a very disappointing one and something I would honestly never watch again.

Unfortunately this is one of those cases where it’s nowhere near as good as I remembered, Smaug himself is easily the best thing about this movie movie by far. Unfortunately he doesn’t appear until the last act which again like Unexpected Journey is the best act in the film, funnily enough this movie suffers from the exact same problems as Unexpected Journey. The movie feels more lighthearted, the characters are just not that interesting aside from Bilbo, Gandalf, Legolas, Galadriel, Smaug and Thorin. The movie’s pacing is also very ridiculous, certain scenes feel way too long while other scenes feel extremely short. It’s very inconsistent and it really bothers you quickly, having that said this movie is better than Unexpected Journey but not by a whole lot, they are about the same this movie just have a few other things about it that I liked. The acting is overall pretty decent and the writing is fine enough but at times it feels a little too basic. Which is a huge step down from The Lord Of The Rings movies, overall the movie isn’t bad but like Unexpected Journey this is something I would never watch again.

Everything about this movie is just masterful, from the characters to the world building and so on. Unlike The Hobbit movies the characters here are far more interesting, Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom and eveyone else do a fantastic job in their roles. The cinematography is still some of the most best to come out of any film, you feel the sense of adventure and how massive the film and the world is. It’s such an incredible feeling that you just don’t get from a lot of films anymore, the character development is so incredible to the point where you feel for every character. The writing is completely spot on, it really just shows how much thought was put into it. The ending is also absolutely beautiful between the music and how the camera zooms out is just incredibly beautiful. It’s really not hard to see why many people consider this one of the best films ever made, it does everything a movie should do but instead of just doing those things it perfects those things.

There really isn’t much you can say that already has not been said when talking about The Lord Of The Rings The Two Towers. It’s a film that improves on a already masterful film, the cinematography is incredible, the music is beautiful as ever, the character development is even stronger in this film mostly due to the characters splitting up, which is something a lot of films can’t do correctly but this film does it perfectly, not only does it give loads of development it makes you feel for the characters and even for the newer ones as well! Like the first film this movie is huge, but this movie definitely does feel bigger mostly because how much more land the characters cover, that’s one thing I almost forgot to mention it feels like we are on the adventure with the characters. It’s a truly magnificent experience in a film you just don’t see anymore!

This Movie…
What can I even say? It’s one of my favorite films of all time and is one of the films I think of when someone says the word “film” it’s a film that truly deserves all the praise it gets, like I said about the previous two movies it does everything correctly. From the characters, to the writing, to the cinematography and the action sequences which I honestly like are some of the best to come out of any film, there is so many iconic scenes such as Pipin’s song which is one of my favorite songs to come out of a film. This movie combines what makes the first two films so great and expands on that even more, if you haven’t already I highly recommend to check out the extended version it’s a one of a kind experience that really is an incredible adventure that you will never forget!
